End of an era
I would like to see an After 5 o clock whiskey voice please. Very important to an Englishman hearing the full vocal range of his peers.
Yes precious... me wants it.

So, i just registered in this forum just to ask this questions. I really loved TNS mod (best mod for RTW IMO), and im especting anxiously for DoM, so here it goes:
Will Dale faction be able to recruit some dwarf units on DoM as Dunland can recruit orc units on TNS?
Another question, maybe more like a request: will be able to retrain that rohan unit of dwarves of aglarond (at least on aglarond)? Bcause i think that is perfectly logical to be able to retrain this unit on this setlement, what about retraint it on a dwarf settlement?
Finally, what about mercenaries? I mean, there isnt many of they on TNS, this will be changed on DoM? Especially on the region of Arnor i think it could be a good idea to implement some more merc units (what about special units like rangers?).
P.s.: Sorry for my bad english, im brazillian and dont speak english very well.
Im curious to hear more about what the Dwarves will be like, such as population, units and what happens as you play them. I'm also wondering if Adunabar will be given more depth? will any members of the House of Hurin or Galador join that faction?

Great news! Dale units look awesome.
Yet I wonder how those Elf-guys are named. I always caputre "edhellen", which simply means "elvish". Though this makes some sence, I think I miss something.
I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.
Really nice dev diary
Ah, thanks Aradan. Simply the plural of mellon, didn't get this.
If I understood correctly, it's not really an alliance system, but based on the levies and Zone of Recruitment system. So elvish units, consisting out of Elves, are only recruitable in ancient elvish lands, such as Lindon, the Greenwood, Lothlórien and perhaps Imladris. In all other regions they can only recruit mannish levies or perhaps assimilation units: such as the RK is able to recruit Harondor Swords in Harad an Riders of the Mark in Rohan.
The open question remaining is, how far those levies are assimilated. Will they be better than other levies, will they be special and unique levies?
I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.
Maybe he meant permanent alliances that were mentioned some time ago?
Stark should be right; there were hints on the old forums on the alliance system, Aradan may come up wit a full explanation; if not, I remember some bits of it...
He let us vote which permanent alliance we want in DoM, as game mechanichs only allow 2 (I think). IIRC Dale-dwarves and RK-elves were chosen.
I think they're going to make use of the "Senate" alliance thingy. I can't recall what are the plans for the alliances, but Dale/Dwarves and RK/Elves somehow will form an unbreakable alliance (unbreakable by the AI I mean).
EDIT
Yeah, I think only four factions can be included in this, in different ways it seems. And since an unbreakable alliance between Dale and RK doesn't make a lot of sense, we had to settle on these conditions and not RK/Dwarves/Elves and Dwarves/Dale.

If I understood correctly they were looking into using the old Senate function from RTW original campaign, perhaps changing the Senate into a White Council or something. (Was there mention of the White Council being dissolved, even if it's most important members had left?) (Edit: One source says the White Council of the Third Age was the second such council, but with mostly the same members. The appearance of a third one needs not be very far-fetched I guess.)
Personally I think this would be awesome, although I must admit I have no idea just how much this function is modable in reality. I am very interested to hear from the team wether they have looked into this.
Aradan seemed quite excited by this idea, so unless some major obstacle has popped up it could be still in the works?

I don't think a third White Council will get useb b team.
Well, in these terms (RK/Dwarves/Elves and Dwarves/Dale) I think it would be easier to make a permanent alliance betwen all the four factions, bcause if RK and Dale declare war to each other and both are permanent allies of the Dwarves, that would generate a paradox.Yeah, I think only four factions can be included in this, in different ways it seems. Also, i think that it makes a LOT of sense to RK and Dale be permanent allies, the same as Rohan and RK would do, bcause the northman people were historically allies of Gondor (as were the kingdom of rhovanion, if im not mistaken)...
So, at least for me it makes much more sense a permanent alliance between RK/Rohan/Dale than RK/Dwarves/Elves.
Do I smell a hint of hobbit empires?
Looking forward to the release, well done! I am very much looking forward to the even greater geographical precision.
I have a question, will the dwarves have a large amount of Iron resources?
What about the Druedain, will they be featured somehow, as a unit perhaps?
