Icon2 Enjoy, CA responded to our criticisms and fears

    Very good news guys.

    find !!! from http://www.strategyinformer.com/news...he-near-future

Modders rejoice! Creative Assembly has confirmed that they will be releasing a set of modding tools for Napoleon: Total War "in the near future".

The news came out during Strategy Informer's interview with Total War: Shogun 2's Lead Designer Jamie Ferguson, where we asked him why the relationship with the modding community had been a bit rocky recently .

"Yeah it wasn't something that was ever intentional," he said.

"I think we kind off... you know sometimes you can upset your friends without meaning to. What we were trying to do was create a game that would run faster but at the same time was moving things forward and looking good. I think the unintentional result of that was that in some ways it was harder to mod."

He then went on to reveal the developer's plans for releasing an SDK for Napoleon.

"But we are planning to launch an SDK for Napoleon in the near future, we want people to know we're not abandoning our old games. We want people to continue playing them as well as Shogun. We want people to constantly look at Total War as a continuing on-going experience. It's not like when we move on they have to move on and not touch it again."

We couldn't pin them down on an exact time-table, and when asked as to whether an SDK for Shogun 2 was also in the works, he was equally as vague:

"I wouldn't rule it out. I don't know when or in what form that would take, but it's something we will probably be looking at as well," Ferguson commented.

    **************

Thanks very much CA !! Dont forget ETW and Shogun 2 ! Cant wait !

You know why i like games ? Because we can create the impossible and offer the dream

You know what I just bought the game today, and they thought: "Hey Syl2r bought the game! Let's make a SDK just for him" XD

    Great news indeed!

They've already hinted at what the SDK would be.. and its not very impressive sounding. If it even happens.

It's more geared around letting noob's mod, rather than letting modders mod what they want, which isn't what anyone wants, or should want.

They abandoned ETW. Now they say they gonna release SDK..... well.... i doubt it.

For those who dont know, SDK is Software Development Kit.

Umm is it just me or is the article that the OP linked to almost 2 months old already? As for the modding tools, unnecessary. Modders will get around the limitations. Remember that Medieval II was about as hard to mod for its first year or so of existence as Napoleon is now - modders will always be pushing the boundaries of how much a game can be edited. I'd much rather have a regimental unit editor so that I can customize my veteran regiments and add some nice replay. Oh well. At least CA is honoring one of their promises to the community.

That's great news! So I can expect CA to fix the AI issues with ETW?
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.

Come now, come now let's be positive.
It will not last an eternity, the earth will be gone by then. So I suggest between now and THE END OF THE WORLD!
