Don't get me wrong, it still has the very strongest spells (more specifically, you'll deal most damage in the game with a sorcery), but they're only available very late in the game and they require a huge lvl of Intelligence. In the beginning of the game, you're stuck with spells taking 50 years to cast and doing pitiful damage, unless you put a good chunk in Intelligence.

Pyromancies however, are a completely different case. You don't have any requirements for them, so you can give it to pretty much every character you can get. Also, to improve them, you don't have to improve any levels, but the Pyromancy Hand (the item with which you use Pyros) itself. This way, you don't lvl up and you have to spend less souls to level up. Pyromancies are also very powerful and deal a lot of damage. Don't restart though ! You can get a Pyro Hand in the next level (just after Capra Demon, then into the Depths)

In short, you can turn the biggest tank (with high Vit, End and Str) into a Pyromancer pretty easily, by just upgrading the hand. If you want to give him sorceries, however, you'll have to upgrade the Int a LOT, and you have to do a small quest near the end to get the good spells.
Well, unfortunatly I wen against your advice, and restarted as a Cleric. Played for a few hours today and I'm back up to level 22, so no massive loss in that sense. It's a bit different as I'm not a full tank yet like my knight was, but I'm trying to move towards a kind of Paladin like class, so I'll be investing in the STR, END, VIT shortly. So at the moment I'm an average strength fighter that can throw lightning at people, which is good.

Just rang the first bell, so catching up to where I was. Fought two of the bosses by summoning people in first, it helped alot - Love the multiplayer in this game.

Yea, Lightning Spear is really good early on.

Too bad it gets weak near the end. And Great Lightning Spear is not that much better

Good god. I finally had a chance to play this thanks to a friend. My poor bandit was brutalized, I really think it's the lack of healing grass as opposed to this flask that ups the difficulty though. Didn't get to far thanks to my stubborn determination to defeating that Black Knight but I got a little past that first metal boar(hardly anywhere I imagine).
Logical paradoxes and giant dragons don't get on.

Hmmm, I made a really bad decision in entering the depths after I had defeated Quelagg to get the Large ember, I forgot how annoying it was, I've forgotten whether I have to go through Blighttown to get to the surface, or can I go up through the Parish again?

Take a more easy class like the soldier or cleric. Healing miracles help a ton when you first play.

You first entered Blighttown with the Master Key or what ?

The Large Ember is extremely easy to find ! Go into the depths, kill the guys with the torches and shiz, and keep going down the (mini)stairs. Then you'll get in a room with a dog and a butcher. In this room, there is a chest, containing the Large Ember. Just backtrack your way out now.

You practically can't miss it during a normal playthrough (without Master Key)

Blighttown is so overrated. It's not half as bad as everyone says it is. The only bad thing about it is the framerate. And ok, the blowdart guys are annoying, but they don't respawn and have like 5hp, and sometimes die by themselves.

    Mosquitoes ? Bring a bow.

I personally dislike the Lower Undead Burg (mostly because of Capra ) more. Or the entire Demon Ruins - Lost Izalith level(s)

Get a Spider Shield (found in the Depths, or Bandit starting weapon). If you block the poisonous darts with that shield, you won't get toxicated.

I made my first proper attempt at PvP the other night by joining the cat covenant. I've been invaded and that before a couple of times, but this was the first time I tried alot of PvP. It ended badly, I got backstabbed to death about 80% of the time and the rest was 2 on 1's where I got destroyed. Must have invaded about 20 times and killed 2 people - Not a great record.

But ah well, it's practice I suppose.

Actually, people who are in the cat covenant are far better off. When you enter their territory, even if you have summoned help; you can have 2 invaders at the same time, and they will just keep coming back, whereas if your sumonned help dies, they don't come back.

Yeah, I realised that could happen, but it only did once. Most of the time I ran into people who where in groups just looking for PvP, the same two where in for over an hour as I invaded them 3 or 4 times and got destroyed each time.

Edit: I just invaded someone and got 460k souls, I'm level 48 so this is quite a big deal for me lol.

Not sure if everyone's lost interest, but I'm still gonna post.

I had kind of broke my last character (as I mentioned 460k souls which I stupidly spent on levelling) as I was too high a level for the majority of things I was facing, level 71 just before Quelaag on NG was too much.

So I tried a Sorceror character and I love it, that's my main one now. He's got not great vitality, but spells do a huge amount of damage so it's good. Defeated O&S and I'm now kind of tidying things up that I've missed to this point (Sif, Ash Lake etc) and trying to help out with some other bosses.

I've had to specifically watch my levelling, so I don't go too high again for the bosses, because I enjoy the coop element alot. Still in SunBros for the coop, but when I get the ability I'm considering joining Darkmoon, want to try pvp more, though I usually just get backstabbed alot which is kind of annoying.

Does anyone know if Princess' Guard covenant has any benefits? The whole brining people in the same covenant together doesn't seem like it would be much use.

Princess' Guard gives you some powerful healing spells, but you need high faith (something 37-50 ish) to cast them.

Are there many people still playing it on PS3? I might pick DaS up on this month.

Would be happy to play some coop with ya

I'll sell MW3 first. Why the hell did I get it before DaS? Those 90's weapon sounds are just nauseating.
