perhaps someone whos busy shouldnt be doing things that require daily attention? just a thought, no offence intended or anything... i appreciate that its difficult managing different obligations - and real world ones usually should take precident over virtual, but it just seems like there are many people here who would love to do it. maybe you should step aside temporarily until your real world obligations allow it to be done??

I agree with antea's comments... I feel the Picture of the Day needs a more... I don't know... charismatic/enegetic person incharge... I would surely be willing to help antea if it is to be....

Picture of the Day seems to be Picture of the Month on the majority of sites. Not sure why, it just is.

well, the reason that picture of the day ends up more lke picture of themonth on this and most sites is because of the lack of entries. in the last submissions thread, there were, i believe, 13 applications in 3 weeks. it is impossible to have a new picture every day with this amount of applications.
I am on here everyday regardless of my real life and i do in fact update the PoTD as often as i deem necessary.
Amittedly though,it has not been updated as regularly as i had intendedwhen i took up the position, but as yet i do not feel the need to resign my position. If the regularity of updating does not improve however, i shall step down and pick a new moderator.

I think the problem lies in the fact that people get discourage when they submit pictures, and have to wait like two weeks for something to happen. If you update the picture more often, the people will start contributing more... I think.

Nope. It doesn't work out that way. There simply isn't enough entries, nevermind quality ones, for a picture for everyday. Even if it was updated more often, there would still be the same problem to an extent.

Although it is true that the POTD needs to be updated much more often than it is currently, and there might be a certain amount of "Lets not bother submitting, if it isn't going to be put up anyway" as a result.

Then I suggest it to be renamed into the POTW (Picture Of The Week) and have multiple (2?) people managing it. I wouldn't mind helping out...

Well why don't you let people make more than one submission? Some people would like to add a couple of their best screens. It might increase participation and content.

I think the biggest problem is that edited pics are allowed. It makes the quality of the screenshot inferior to the abilities of the editor. I think people eimply get discouraged to post thier screenshots when thye see the edited screenshots of others already submitted. Maybe even create 2 potd threads, one edited and one unedited.

Also, one thing that I already suggested to the "new potd game" , is to have a signiture banner that the winner gets to wear until the new winner is anounced.

thats a good point NKIGravedigger... i have noticed the increased photoshopped pic of the day quota... it seems as though it almost has to be photoshopped to be concidered. the result is that each image gets more and more complex - isolating people who dont have photoshop.

my favourites are the ones with a comical element... or the ones that show something unusual happening in the game itself... there is a place for the photoshopped ones, but i dont think they should be on every single potd.

Yes, I know this.... but I was saying that if atleast people know that the picture of the day will be updated once a week, that they'll start contributing more. I know I would. I think in one week we could get atleast ten pictures...

Picture of the week sounds better. It is updated every week, or other week. It seems to be easiest just to change the "Picture of the Day" to "Picture of the Week".
