For DarthMod Ultimate Commander
Option 1
Reseting the scripts
This is the standard fix, and should work most of the time.
1.Open the DMUC launcher, go to options, and then diagnostics.
2.Enable advanced diag options.
3.Reset the scripts. Bear in mind, if you have manually edited the scripts your changes will be reverted!
Option 2
Reinstalling the scripts
Almost the same as above, but it works even when the back-up scripts are missing/corrupted.
1.Open the DMUC launcher, go to options, and then diagnostics.
2.Enable advanced diag options.
3.Reinstall the scripts, and follow the on-screen instructions. Bear in mind, if you have manually edited the scripts your changes will be reverted!
Option 3
Bypassing the CTD
Sometimes a CTD can occur when you try to make a diplomatic offer, besiege a city, or move a certain unit. To get around this you:
1.Try to work out what it causing the crash, be it another faction, a unit etc.
2.Do something different, eg delete the unit, don't make the diplomatic offer, don't besiege the city etc. Hopefully this will prevent the crash if it is caused by one of these things.
Option 4
Checking that all settings are the same as they were at the beginning of the campaign
Some settings are known to cause CTDs if they are changed during a campaign. The in-game settings do not have this problem, but it is a risk with some of the DMUC gameplay options, especially smoke.
1.Open the DMUC launcher, go to options, and then gameplay.
2.Revert anything you changed back to how it was at the beginning of the campaign.
3.Try to load up the campaign.
Option 5
Defragging your HD
This has certainly been known to fix some savegames
1.Download a defragging program, for example defraggler, or Advanced System Care.
2.Use it to defrag your HD
3.Try to load the savegame.
Option 6
Verifying Empire: Total War and reinstalling DarthMod Ultimate Commander
This should iron out any corruptions within the DarthMod and Empire:Total War installations.
1.Uninstall DarthMod Ultimate Commander using the uninstall.exe located in the Empire:Total War main folder. If you cannot find this then delete all files in the data folder with DMUC in the title, and any other mod files (there are some in autorun, and campaigns, and go to the scripts folder (in your application data-for instructions on how to find this look <here>) and delete the DMUC folder. Remove any other mods as well. If in doubt about a file, delete it, as the next step will repair and replace vanilla files.
2.Verify Empire:Total War via Steam (instructions <here>)
3.Check that vanilla Empire:Total War works properly, ie play a couple of turns of campaign, or a custom battle. If it does not see Option 7 below, if it does work proceed to the next step.
4.Reinstall DarthMod Ultimate Commander.
5.Carry on playing. It may be that your savegame is corrupted to the extent that it cannot be repaired, in which case you will have to start a new campaign
Option 7
Total reinstallation of Steam, Empire:Total War and DarthMod Ultimate Commander
If all else fails.
2.Uninstall Empire:Total War and all other Steam games. Make sure you back up mods, scripts, saves, etc.
3.Uninstall Steam via your computer control panel.
4.Re-download and re-install Steam.
5.Re-install all your Steam games.
6.Check vanilla Empire:Total War works properly, ie play a couple of turns of campaign, or a custom battle. There is no reason why it should not work.
7.Reinstall DarthMod Ultimate Commander, check it works, and then install any patches, then sub-mods. Make sure you check it works at every stage.
8.If your campaign does not work, start a new one.
