Rí Fortrenn & Rí Alban, Dòmhnall mac Ailpein (Or other faction leader), indeed it seems that little time has passed since your coronation on An Liath Fàil, our coronation Stone at Scone, but see how our people are surrounded by the devastation of wars!
To the West, the coast land and isles of our once-strong Kingdom of Dál Riata have been ravaged by the heathen Northmen, and reduced to naught better than ash. Our people too, would have been eradicated, had your ancestors not shown wisdom and led us to union with the Picts of the Highlands. What leaderless peoples remain there must be reincorporated under the leadership of our House by force.
To the South, the utter devastation visited by the Northmen on the Kingdom of Strathclyde and the Kingdom of Northumbria have left Lothian and the Lowlands in chaos. The entire region is but a shadow of its former self, but, though the settlements may have been reduced, the soil is much more conducive to farming than our own. With such potential being wasted by the disorganized Gall-Gaidel and Angles who inhabit that region, it is only a matter of time before some other power moves in - we must move swiftly if we are to take advantage of this opportunity!
Though our resolute fortress in Fortriu may seem fast at the moment, we know from experience that the raids of the heathen Danes may reach even our most inland strongholds. This cruel lesson is evidenced by the expansive Danelaw to our South, covering the entire midland region of this island. If our people are to have hope to survive future raids and wars with the destructive Northmen, or our old foes, the Angles and Saxons, we must move swiftly to secure the power-centers nearest our homeland. We must assert a strong royal authority, from Fortriu, over these lands, and incorporate their peoples into our traditions and practices.
If we should be successful in that endeavor, our Rí ought to consider incorporating the Gaelic power-centers of Ireland into our Kingdom, or those of the Welsh to our South, especially before entering contest with the Danes over the control of Britain.
Act swiftly to secure a future for our peoples! May our Kingdom extend over all the peoples of Albion and have them proclaim you Ard-Rí na Albion! High King of Albion!
