I guess some big events are covered in 'A Bridge to Far' and 'The Battle of Britain', but there's nothing really that covers something of such a large scope
"The Pope?... How many divisions does he have?"
- Joseph Stalin(attributed)
Whats the best one?
Exactly, most fictional films based around WWII have a very localised plot, its what makes them a film as opposed to, well, a documentary.
The type of over arching "this is the conflict here are the groups" film your looking for doens't exist on the level you would like i'm afraid.
I do however reccomend the HBO mini-series. Band of Brothers and The Pacific are both excellent high production valued series based on true events from real squads and real people, and the go from basic to the end of the war. But their very anglo-centric im afraid, not many films about the russian side of things, except in russian of course. But yea, I assume you meen english language films correct? If thats the case there are many I can recommend.

Yeah, but im mostly curious about Hitler rather than the Allies, and i always enjoy movies.
Im curious because the World War was mostly about him rather than the others.

Ah, if its Hitler your interested in then watch Downfall (the famous "Hitler talks about x" scene is from that.), it might be a meme but the actual scene is REALLY chilling, Bruno Ganz does an amazing job. Another is Life is Beautiful, one of the few films to make me cry, find the subbed version if you can (its an italian film). A bunch of others, Letters from Iwo Jima is fantastic, Thin Red Line of course (though I found it boring as hell), Patton, The Great Escape, The Bunker.
But for what you're looking for I think Downfall is PERFECT for it.

Der Untergang is a beautiful movie watch it
How the did I forget "A Bridge Too Far" and on that note, one of my all time favorite films,"Bridge on the River Kwai".
Also, while not TECHNICALLY a WWII film, watch Casablanca, everybody should at least once.

A good film if your interested in Hitler is 'Hitler: The Rise of Evil', It doesn't focus on the wartime period but rather how he gained power in Germany after the first world war

There isn't one film that covers the whole war...However the 1973/74 documentary series 'The World at War' is by far the most comprehensive telling of the conflict.
The World at War. - If you have any interest in learning about the realities of WWII you have to watch this series.
Some of my favourite WWII movies..
Stalingrad (1993)
Cross of Iron.
Conspiracy.
Defiance.
Escape from Sobibor.
Schindlers List.
The Pianist.
Life Is Beautiful.
Downfall (2004).
Judgement at Nuremberg.
