Default The Post Apocalyptic Crisis - Alternative History IH

    The Post Apocalyptic Crisis

In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired; Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.

In 2022, the storm of world war had come again. In only two days, most of the planet was reduced to cinders and radiated rubble. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new series of civilizations will struggle to arise.

After the dust settled and the radiation was whisked away by the feisty winds, survivors began to rise up and scavenge what they could. Often violence occurred between people; the now barren wastelands of America were no longer safe to travel through without grouping up heavily or joining the barbaric communities which began to pop up all around America.

It is now 2232, ten whole years have passed since the catastrophe and those who have by the skin of their fingers survived have adapted to this changing cruel world. They began searching for those tools of destructions which had destroyed the world only ten years prior, it was no different in the once prosperous state of Texas. Farms and peaceful flocks of animals once littered the countryside, yet all what remained were the zombie-like mutated corpses which roamed the deserts; these wild beasts are always thirsty for flesh, however many survivors have began to pick up that they never travel outside this desert and stay clear. The more populated and wealthy Districts and cities prior to the Apocalypse began to rebuild themselves, scavenging what materials they could and issuing their will on the local area.

The once heavily populated Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area was one of these major Wasteland players, this mainly helped by the area having the largest remaining population and some areas relatively intact and in liveable conditions. In only 3 years they claimed back all of what they had prior, doing so with force and driving out the more senile survivors who loitered in the wrecks of the cities. Under the command of Rodger Johnson (A Former CIA Agent.) this new "state" claimed supremacy over the whole statistical area. His policies of restricting access to the State by wanderers and strangers was overall popular, allowing those who lived within peace and the chance to rebuild a stable lifestyle. Yet times are changing and it is not financially healthy to carry this on any more.........

Houston, Texas. Once the political stronghold of Texas, and once more the stronghold of the New Texas 'Government'. Senators and politicians who survived the attacks had amassed in the once proud capital of Texas, there ideals for a new Government to oversee and rule this wasteland soon became a reality. Thousands of survivors flocked to the area, giving this new power the strength it needed to carry out its ideals and secure itself power over the less civilised communities. The Leader of this 'Givernment', Senator John Cornyn, was a proud man who was hungry to secure his iron fist over all of Texas. After the 'Senate' passed his proposals, the New Texas Government began to create an army, one which almost rivalled those before the Nuclear blasts. Heavily equipped with weapons scavenged from the city, the Army began sailing unopposed into neighbouring areas, easily subjugating the weak. One year on and this machine looks unstoppable, Will they continue their Blitzkrieg tactic into the Wastelands.....?

Just north of this New Government lies another Wasteland super power; Forth Hood was once one of the most active Military bases in the World and has been controlled by a large group of Ex-Soldiers. This Base homes the largest collection of weapons and materials throughout Texas, all of which issues them as the 'American Army'. Major Mark Sheppard now commands this rather small group of men, his aim is to surely bring back the Army's former glory to itself. What the Army lack in manpower, they more than make up for in fire-power; boasting working vehicles and state of the art guns they aim to control all of Texas......

The Houston Defence force is a rather strange group, inviting all survivors throughout Texas to flock to their settlements. Reginald Slate, CEO of the Texan Merchant Corporation has assumed rule of this rather military lacking state, the aim of his huge merchant scheme is to bring in resources from the Whole of Texas to rebuild a peaceful society. However tensions with the local survivors outside of this new district are high, raids have become more common and this great plan is soon to become stunted. Will Mr. Slate lead his new State to Glory or Ruin.........?

To the east a great force amasses...

The Might of the European union is untouchable throughout the world, their combined strength dominates any threat to their well-being and to those who oppose their rule. After Subjugating Louisiana to their Iron-Will, this Major organization has judged Texas to be in need of their rule, much to the disapproval of the survivors left in Texas. This threat has a large army, which albeit is strong in man power lacks in technology and organization. Will these brutes control all of Texas, or will they fall to the might of Texas.......?

In San Antonio, Surviving Republicans have fortified the area and have beefed up the defences of the large city. After the Blasts, the City retained many of it's major structures and in turn has turned the City into a large fort. A rather secluded community, these people shoot at any who come near and often try not to venture out into the wasteland to attract undue attention. Although after many years, their ammunition stocks have diminished and they will soon need to act quickly to ensure they do not become defenceless. Will they go out of their shells into the Radiated Wastelands.....Or Rot away in the fortified city...?

To the South, a brutish group of men has emerged and unfortunately......thrived. This new community consists of outlaws and ex-convicts who thanks to the Destruction of the Country, have become free once more and able to carry on their devious lifestyles. They ravage lands around them, pillaging defenceless small villages and raiding trade caravans. They stop at nothing to get what they want, and in turn have attracted the attention of many of the more peaceful communities and forces such as the NTG (New Texag government). Will they continue to menace the lands, or will they be put down like rabid dogs...?

To the very pinnacle north of Texas, a rather small band of companions have forged a small nation. These settlers have ventured from the despairs of the the Rest of America, choosing to settle in the more developed state of Texas to create a community. Albeit very small in Number, these men and women have become masters of underhand tactics and espionage. their close-knit relationship far outweighs those in the more Larger communities and is the key to their success. Of more Northern heritage, these people eye up the more fertile Southern lands and may just venture down....

In El Paso, the last remaining Corporate superpower lurks. The El Paso Corporate State has now become one of the sole working manufacturers, causing their wealth to dramatically increase. The advancements in technology have caused this State to be able to enforce their will on the lands to the East of them. What they lack in force, they make up for in Wealth and teamed up with the fiercest they could easily bull-doze their way east to the more valuable scrap.

Lastly, due to the lack of a large State-Encompassing police force. Rebels have spread like wild fire, these folk have lost all sanity and brutally attack those they encounter. They are a force to be aware with if you journey out into the wilderness.

    Main Character Rules:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Taking Barry's idea of introducing a more advanced character system, I have decided to travel the same route and add a more in depth character aspect to the game. You may have 3 characters, one Main character which you may allocate skills to yourself. And 2 extra which will be randomly generated for you to use. You are able to allocate 5 skill points to your Main character at the beginning, and afterwards you will earn more points after time etc.

Strength - Strength is a measure of your raw physical power, this affects your characters ability to fight in brutal hand-to-hand conflict and toughness during battle.

Perception - Representing the ability to see, hear and taste. This trait affects how well your Character notices vital things such as weaknesses in enemy formations and tactics etc.

Endurance - Representing stamina and physical toughness, this trait affects how well your character can cope with intense conditions such as radiation. (Affects units under Character's command also.)

Charisma - Representing a combination of appearance and charm, this affects how well you can influence people with words and is very handy in finding more peaceful solutions to matters.

Intelligence - Representing knowledge, wisdom and the ability to think quickly, this will affect how wise your character is and will allow him to notice and discover things others may not be able to.

Agility - Representing coordination and the ability to move well, this trait affects how fast the character can travel etc. (Affects units under Character's command also.)

Luck - Representing Fate, this trait increases the chances of things when circumstances are dire.

    Economic Rules:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
For every county you control, you gain 10% per turn.

You can choose to sack a county you conquer, giving you 25% straight away and causing the county to produce no income for 3 turns. Additionally, the Province is handed to local scavengers as well.

Scrap is a vital resource in the game, its use is creating working vehicles such as armoured cars etc. It can be obtained for 15% per 1 Ton from local Merchant Caravans, or from Scavenging Buildings.

    Buildings:

Scrap Yard - A lot of land transformed into a massive scrap sorting area, allowing the useful scrap to be scavenged. This produces 1 Ton of Scrap per Turn. 25% 5 Days.

Small Educational Facilities - A Make-shift buildings designed to train and educate younger citizens on how to survive in the Wasteland. This gives a 1/3 Chance of producing a Major Character for your faction per turn. 10% 3 Days.

I shall add rules if enough people join, If not then I shall just scrap it. Secondly, I know there are a few IH's running at the moment but I really wanted to do this so I thought I shall throw it out into the open for you all to gander at.... I was tempted to do a space one, however I shall save that for a later date when there aren't any IH's running.

Did you get it from my thread?
when the union's inspiration through the worker's blood shall run,
there can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun,
yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
but the union makes us strong.
