    Default French Flags - The Effects of Battle

    French Flags - The Effects of Battle
    1812 Pattern

    These are images are screen shots - completely unchanged (only cropped) shots of what can be done to resize the French flags (they were squarer and not as big as those depicted in the game) and add battle damage to them.

    The challenges are that the poles are also a tad long, but more significantly, that in order to do this, you have to use alpha channel in the graphic - but for some reason in NTW it does not work if you have Volumetric effects turned on: Removed areas of the flag just show up black. So to get these effects you cannot play with volumetric on (or therefore, SSOA).

    If anyone knows how this can be remedied, do please let me know.

    UPDATE:

    Without the ability to make new meshes, the Eagles atop the staff are not possible, of course. But I think that providing a clean, gilded pike-head rather than the rough old iron fitting we have in vanilla is appropriate: So mine now looks like this:

    1805 Pattern

    The two French Flags as shown are in the OP. Choose ONE of them and place in your data folder.

    NOTE: YOU CANNOT USE THESE FLAGS WITH VOLUMETRIC EFFECTS TURNED ON. Also, the attachment does not include the revised pikehead shown above.

    @Pdguru

    Its amazing to see the visual progress modders are making. Off hand, do you know if you were using a mod for the British in the 3rd screenshot? If so, do you remember what it was called?

    Riiktherek - Mattebubben is correct - those are Suisse 4th Regiment.

    They are a mod of mine based on revisions/additions to L'aigles skins, and are available here:

    This seems to be very well done, sir, as can be expected from a man of such good taste. I will set out to a practical test immediately, regardless of the fact that this was the last night that WOT offered a x5 Exp bonus for all tankisti...these Russians...I play only German tanks though. However excuse me for getting carried away once more...let me however express to you my depest gratitude and greatest satisfaction with all your work that you are so kind in sharing!

    PS: By the way gentlemen, obviously the French are marching again..! It certainly inspires me...

    Excellent work.I always thought it would be interesting if the flag showed signs of wear as the unit suffered casualties,so as to serve as a quick visual reference to overall unit strength and effectiveness.This is an excellent start from the immersion standpoint though

    These are awesome, I wonder if there is a way to make the flags actually get battle damaged during the battle?
