Thread: [SOLVED] Cannot actually start the game

Default [SOLVED] Cannot actually start the game

I installed DMUC and updated it to 6.7, but every time I navigate through the launcher menu and try to start ANYTHING (vanilla campaign, Ultimate Campaign, Ultimate Late Campaign) I can click on the button to launch endlessly and nothing happens. I don't know if there's a problem between the launcher and the game itself, but I do have Steam and have updated my vanilla to the latest edition. I CAN run Vanilla using Steam, and I have validated the files with Steam (I don't know what that did, if anything, but I did it.)

    Any suggestions?

Are you sure you installed the mod to the right folder?

    I would suggest you reinstall.

Are you using a 32 or 64 bit OS?

    Windows 7 64 OS.

It's located under C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/empire total war.

Is that the wrong file location? I've already reinstalled the game but I guess I'll do it again. This is the picture of all the things in the folder, let me know if something is missing:

That seems to be fine, though I can't see whats in the data folder.

    Go into the DMUC launcher

Options menu->diagnostics->enable advanced diag options->reset the scripts. If that doesn't work then reinstall the scripts (a different option in the same menu)

Report back when you've done that.

When you run the installer (2010_09_29_DMUC_v62_Full_Installer.exe) be sure that the path shown at the 4th step is:

    C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/empire total war

Good point, I mistook the DM uninstall for the actual DMUC exe. Oops.

You don't have DMUC installed here, so you do have to install it...

Thanks Xwhyzed, I'd completely missed that.

It worked! Thanks for all of your help. I was stupid and hadn't installed it in the correct location.

    Much obliged, gents!
