    Default Narnia Total War


    Narnia has fallen under a shadow with the rise of The White Witch. Her grip over the land is absolute, and she rules the good races of Narnia with an iron fist. Those who dare oppose her are dragged away by the secret police, never to be seen again, and turned into statues for macabre display in the courtyard of her castle, a warning to those who would dare oppose her might.

    But there is still hope, for two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve have come to Narnia to fulfill the prophecy telling of the overthrow of Jadis' power upon their ascension to the throne at Cair Paravel. But they will face much hardship in this task, as The White Witch will not readily relinquish her hold on Narnia...

    Hey members of Total War Center! This is a mod centered around Narnia, most specifically the events of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This is a big task, and we're currently still looking for people to fill up our team to make this mod happen! Contact General Custer or post in this thread if you'd like to help us with this. This mod is for Medieval 2 Total War : Kingdoms.

    (Credit for intro given to Gilkanese)

    This mod, as stated above, is centered around the world of Narnia, from the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. It is a total conversion mod for M2TW Kingdoms, and will include the two factions of Narnia and the White Witch, possibly with a Telmarine invasion later on.

    Faction Descriptions

    The Kingdom of Narnia

    The Kingdom of Narnia was founded in year 0 when Aslan crowned Frank I and Helen King and Queen. Narnia was guarded over by Aslan who put voice into beasts during the creation. Narnia was bordered East by the Bight of Calormen, to the west was the Wild, to the North was Ettinsmoor and to the south was the great Kingdom of Archenland. The great river flows through the heart of Narnia and begins in the Western Wild at the Garden of Youth and flows down the Great Waterfall into the Cauldron Pool, it continues south of the Lantern waste and through the Fords of Beruna before it reaches the sea at the Bight of Calormen past Cair Paravel. The Lantern waste is a forested area inhabited by dryads and fauns to the West and it is named after the Lampost there that Jadis, the White Witch planted during the creation of Narnia on her attempt to kill Aslan. Cair Paravel was a glittering castle on the edge of the Bight of Calormen sitting on a peninsula; many great Kings and Queens sat on the thrones there from the Dawn of Time.

    Frank I and Helen were the first rulers of Narnia; they had a son named Frank II who married a naiad around year 50 of Narnia, he spent most of his reign expanding the borders of Narnia until he was succeeded by his son Frank III who was married to a dryad of the Lantern Waste. Frank III’s reign was rather simple as he had no wars to fight or borders to expand, he was succeeded by his son Frank IV married to a dryad; Frank IV had little to do in his reign like his father so he was succeeded by his son Frank V. Frank V had at least 2 sons with a naiad, Frank VI of Narnia and Col of Archenland, Col founded the allied nation of Archenland and Frank VI was king of Narnia like his ancestors. King Gale was a descendant of Frank VI and 10th king of Narnia, in year 302 he sailed to the Lone Islands that were inhabited by tribes at that time and he slew a dragon there that was threatening their lands. The People of the Lone Islands were so grateful that they allowed their lands to be part of the Kingdom of Narnia. Gale became the first Emperor of the Lone Islands. Queen Swanwhite was an unmarried Queen of Narnia around year 900; her beauty was so great that if she looked into a pond her reflection would stay there for a year and a day. But that was at the turn of the tide as Jadis, the White Witch founded the Empire of Narnia and conquered the lands creating an eternal winter all over the Kingdom.

    The Pevenises have come to Narnia and are about to make the prophecy come true, Aslan will be aiding Peter, the Magnificent, Edmund, the Just, Susan, the Gentle and Lucy, the Valiant on their quest to slay Jadis and bring down her Empire. They will have little help as the forces of the Kingdom of Narnia are weak compared to the goblins, boggles, ogres, ettins and other dark creatures of the Empire. Centaur Oreius will gather an army for King Peter so they can take on the armies of the Empire at the Fords of Beruna and kill Jadis once and for all. If they are successful the Winter will be over and the Golden Age will begin, and the Pevenises will sit on the thrones at Cair Paravel.

    The Empire of Narnia

    The Empire of Narnia was founded during year 900 by Jadis, the White Witch. The Empire’s dark capital lies in north Narnia; it is called the Witch’s Castle by most Narnians. It is surrounded by grand icy walls within a great frozen lake; the castle is guarded by more than just wolves and the Secret Police. Minotaurs, orknies and other evils that never rest; it has a courtyard filled with stone statues of those unfortunate to fall under the Witch’s Spell. The empire has a large camp north of near Beruna where Jadis rallies her armies for her conquest.

    Jadis, the White Witch was formerly the Empress of Charn until she was taken through the Woods between the Worlds into Narnia. She unsuccessfully attempted to kill Aslan with an Iron Bar she got from a lamp post in the streets of London earlier, she retreated north of Telmar which was an empty land in those times, and she rested there and planned an assault on Narnia for many long years. Many other witches joined her in that area which is now known as Witch Country; Jadis gathered all the demonic exiles in the north of which Otmin, Maugrim and Ginarrbirk were part of and marched to the Kingdom of Narnia in year 900. She and her army conquered the Kingdom and formed the Empire of Narnia, she casted a spell on the lands creating an eternal winter that could only be broken when two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve sat on the thrones at Cair Paravel. Maugrim, the wolf was captain of the Secret Police and he and his pack hunted down her majesties enemies. Otmin, the minotaur was made general of her imperial majesty’s armies. Ginarrbrik, the Black Dwarf was made to be her majesty’s bodyguard and servant.

    But as everything was going fine for the Empire, two Sons of Adams and two Daughters of Eve have come to Narnia. Aslan is on the move. And Oreius is gathering an army. Hopefully the supreme armies of the Empire will hold the rebellion back. Only Aslan knows.

    Please keep in mind that some of these units are not completely finished, I would still like to add more the Secret Police and the Werewolf, and change the Minotaur a bit. We need all the help we can get in this category, so no matter how basic your photoshop or gimp skills, WE NEED YOU!

    Well.. I wish you guys good luck... but i stated in other thread why Narnia isn't good for a mod.

    It's because its world it's too small!

    The only possible factions are

    Narnia
    Telmar
    Calormen
    Archland
    The Lone Islands
    White Witch
    Giants of the North
    Beings of the Deep ( 5th book )

    Besides it has very few named cities. Very few cities or settlements, actually! The only ones mentioned in the book are

    Cair Paravel, Witch's Castle, Harfang, Anvar, Azim Balda, Tashbaan, Miraz' Castle, Beruna and.. i think thats' all. Besides some little islands ( at max 5 )

    AND there are some things hard to do. For example, what would Telmar do at start? Just sit there till' they invade Narnia? And how are you going to represent Aslam?

    Besides, do you have modding skills?

    It is all possible. Just check out Akthross: Total War.

    Bism (the beings of the deep) are beneath even the underworld. I don't see them coming in to this.

    If this is the Golden Age of Narnia, then Telmar may have to fight Calormen instead. Although they are weak then, they could fit into the game. Maybe instead of Crusades, Telmar could call invasions of different places in Narnia.

    Plenty of names for settlements could be made up. It's really not a problem.

    It's possible team. Try checking with alreadyded.

    @beckyolt, it isn't necessary for General Custer to have modskills since he can recruit team members and lead the mod. With that said I believe General Custer is able to make models.

    The fact that Narnia is a small world and that there are only a few factions makes it easier to complete.

    @Radboud: I agree.

    As for the faction list:

    -Royal Narnia (Many different creatures, but resembles a feudal kingdom. Centaurs only fight for Narnia. Led by High King Peter)

    -Archenland (Medieval English/French type people. Lots of archers because they are in the mountains. Lots of infantry. Very little cavalry.)

    -Calormen (Medieval Persia maybe? Some armored units. Light armored cavalry. Mostly unarmored units. Just like in the books.)

    -Telmar (Medieval/Renaissance Spanish. Heavily armored units and strong al round. Though lacking in numbers. Led by Caspian I the Conquerer)

    -Lone Islands (don't quite know. Maybe pirates and bandits?)

    -Ettinmoors (Giants and barbarian type style. Maybe some minotaurs here? Also the dwarves?)

    -Imperial Narnia (Many evil creatures and dwarfs as well. Minotaurs, Giants, Cyclops, etc. Led by Jadis, Queen of Narnia and known as the White Witch.)

    Thats a good faction list. Maybe you could implement Aslan as a scripted guy coming in ever once in a while. When lets say Cair Paravel is under seige, Aslan shows with an army to help out. Or he could be like a pope. Though that sounds not as good. Telmar shouldn't be led by Caspian I, since the Telmar conquest didn't happen for a while.

    Maybe you could make a "Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe" campaign, young more Calormene Telmar (in the Horse and His Boy, the horse and Calormene girl talk about the battles with the rebellions in the east). This campaign could be when the White Witch has ruling Narnia, you defeat her as King Peter, then play the rest of the Golden Age, against Calormene and the Giants. Maybe a King Peter campaign, where that happens, then a Grand campaign, were anything can happen.

    Then you could have a "Prince Caspian" campaign, when Telmar is over most Narnia. You can also have a more scripted storyline "Prince Caspian" campaign when you rid the land of the Telmarines and then once you accomplish this, you can play out a normal campaign (much like the Fellowship Campaign in the Third Age). And theres also a Grand Campaign like what I said before, but set in this time frame.
    Those are just some of my ideas for the campaigns, hope they make sense.

    Hey guys!

    I'd really like to help you with this mod. The only thing: I don't have absolutely any experience in modding TW
    But if you need any assistence, I'm more than glad to help. Besides, it would be great to learn how to do some modding

    I really like the Narnia story, (read the books twice, seen the new movie today It was better than I expected) and love M2TW of course. (I have been playing TW games since Medieval I, but Med2's my favourite) Well I have some experience in photoshop, if that counts.
    And also I tried to make a Narnia campaign for Heroes of Might and Magic III. I know that's not the same as TW, but maybe we can use the map for a start (if u R interested, I will show u the map, as soon as I meet a scanner...)
    Sooo... my expertise is not really huge, but I'm eager to do some research, or anything I could help with Well give me a PM, or email or anything, if u need me

    It is a nice faction list, maybe Imperial Narnia could replace the Papal States so that we can have more factions like Minotaurs, Giants, Cyclops, etc. (this will need to be discussed by the team.).

    1.) Yes I am able to make models, but I'm still trying to get a good understanding of milkshape (its actually coming to me quickly)

    2.) I like the faction list too, and Radboud, I like the papal states idea. But its too late at night for me to think about this stuff alot right now so I'll post back in the morning

    3.) Rosenkruz, thanks for the pics, I'll look closer at them and see if we can incorporate those units into the game.

    Well gentlemen I really hope something comes of this one I always thought Narnia would make a good mod and you guys have a good start with this one good luck and can't wait to see what you develop soon I have written unit descriptions for a couple of mods so wen the time comes I can help if you need it

    The only bad part about the Lone Islands is the distance it would extend the map, but otherwise, the factions I thought of would be exceptable.

    I'm not sure u all know this mod, but if u dont:
    There was a few years ago a Narnia Total War trying (for Rome TW), but after 2 years of development, they had a hard drive accident, and all of their data were lost...
    I think we should contact the ones who made it that far, that can we use some of their work.

    Ouch. Losing all your data really sucks, especially on a hard to make mod like Narnia, where you have to create units that are different in every way from units in the game.

    Also, those pictures are great. Love Telmarine equipment, their masks are awesome.
