[SOLVED] Uninstall DMUC [temporarily]

I had no problems installing DMUC 6.7, everything seems to be working fine.

Unfortunately, most of the online games are NOT in DM, so I can't join or watch them.
How do I uninstall DMUC temporarily, go back to ETW, so I can see the games online?

Go to the DMUC Launcher, options, disable DMUC files. That should do the trick

Thanks Tango, I tried that, but I still run into problems.

I then try to launch ETW, but I get an error message, and am unable to launch it.

So I'm not sure what to do now.

Have you tried verifying the game? The option should take all the DMUC files out of the data folder and deactivate the scripts...

Yes, I did the verify process, and it verified all files, no problems or errors.

I still am unable to load ETW, I get the same error message.

Do I need to reinstall ETW every time I deactivate DMUC?

If you can't load up vanilla ETW, then it isn't a problem with DarthMod, however, I would uninstall all mod stuff and varify again to make sure.

The other way to deactivate DMUC is to remove all the DMUC files from the Data folder, and launch the game via the normal game shortcut.

I never had a problem with launching ETW, until I added DMUC.

I did as you suggested, uninstalling DMUC and then verifying ETW.
All is as before, verification successful, no problems or errors.

Unfortunately, I still cannot load up ETW, I even tried to launch thru Steam, but no luck there either.
I get the same error message. You would think than a successful verification would mean I should be able to load it up.

So I'm out of ideas, save reinstalling ETW, which I was trying to avoid.
I dunno, DMUC doesn't seem to be working for me.

So, hang on, which version of DM are you using exactly. You say you had DMUC, but your ETW folder above says otherwise.
Which page did you download it


Failing all else, a reinstall of ETW might be needed, but hopefully it won't get that far.

You don't have to reinstall ETW, just check the user.empire_script.txt
at:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts
or
Vista/windows 7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

For vanilla ETW the file should be empty (you can even delete it)

Tango, uh, I dunno about that, but it's always been DMUC.
I downloaded here from the DarthMod website.


Xwhyzed, Hooray, that worked!
The file contained the following: "mod darthmod.pack;"
I deleted that, and ETW worked without any problems.


Well, now I'm skittish about installing DMUC again.
Will it create the empire_script.txt file and mess up ETW again?
Thoughts, comments and advice solicited.

You did not install DMUC-you only had DM-which is a lot smaller. The DMUC download is 1.7GB. To get DMUC go to the DMUC download thread, not the DM one.

If you had Empire Total War's game files backed up through steam, and you still had the installer for DMUC, it would only take you the time it takes to install the game.

You did not originally have DMUC installed-because you have an entry called "darthmod.pack" in your script. This does not come with DMUC, only DM. Install DMUC 6.2 and the 6.8 patch as normal, and it should work. If it does not, reinstall the scripts using the diagnostic options menu in the DMUC launcher.

Anyway for next time, you don't have to uninstall DMUC to play vanilla,
just check the script file and make sure it's empty then run the game with the vanilla exe.

When you want to play DMUC again you can reinstall the user script in
the Launcher (Options - Diagnostics - Enable Adv Diag Options) as Tango stated.

Then what were those two files I downloaded?
They came from the DarthMod Empire Sub-Forum, the first two sticky threads, for v6.2 and 6.7 patch.
Both say "DMUC"; looked like DMUC to me.

These are indeed DMUC files, so they should be good.

I don't know how the darthmod.pack got into your script file, it is for DM as Tango mentioned
it was also used for a short period for quick fixes to DMUC but that was pre 6.2 (or even pre 6.0)
the file does get installed (though it shouldn't be listed in the script) with Dmuc but it is no longer used.
