Introduction
Edit: Now updated for scripts and traits.
I wasn't sure if I should call this a tool or a resource, because it's like a resource for a tool
Anyways, on topic... With this you can have syntax highlighting in Notepad++ for:
- scripts (remastered)
- export_descr_buildings.txt (original)
- export_descr_character_traits.txt (remastered)
- export_descr_advice.txt (original)
In future I hope to add more files to the list, but this is it for now
Btw, don't expect any miracles... It doesn't check the syntax of your files (there are other tools for that), but it does give colours if it recognizes something. So if you write a scripting command and the text remains black rather than turn to blue, you know you've made a spelling error or something. And it's simply easier to read the files.
Oh, and for some syntaxes you can expand and collapse sections in a file. For EDB this can be done with every opening "{" bracket up to the corresponding "}". And for scripts this can be done for monitors, if statements, while loops etc...
Installation / Usage
1. For this you need to have notepad++ installed. It's a free to download text editing program, which uses tabs, so that if you open the program, it automatically opens a few files you were working on as well in those tabs. (And with this you can get syntax highlighting, YAY!)
2. Browse to "...\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\userDefineLangs" (type "%appdata%" in the windows search bar if you can't find it)
3. Paste all .xml files out of the .zip from the download link.
5. Start Notepad++.
6. Set notepad++ in dark mode. The selected colours will work best then.
7. Open one of the files you want to see the syntax for in Notepad++ and go to Syntaxis -> RomeTW xx.
8. Your file should now have syntax highlighting
