Battlefield 3

One of those games that `feels` realistic, but isn`t really. Also you don`t really get that skilled (well there is some skill) , but a lot of it are augmentations as you go up levels... meh.

And that's a pity because BF3 could be decently realistic if they made some simple changes to the gameplay.

Though my constant fear of getting backstabbed keeps me from playing as a sniper when the game is very fluid.

I know what you mean. There were times when I was looking around in a room and took just one moment to relax when i`m suddenly grabbed and stabbed in the throat. I literally jump when that happens. Although I never normally put myself in a position when that can happen. Must`ve been a sharp guy. Although I don`t do sniper except in emergencies.

BF3 on console, this is heresy ! You won't even experience half of what the game is meant to make you feel.

Understandable plus on pc you have to deal with all this origin bs everyone seems to hate.

Anyways as a console player (xbox) its decent but some of the maps can feel very empty.

My sniping abilities atrophy much quicker than my abilities with an assault rifle. Never realized how good the M16A1 is until now.

I remember I tried it out the very first time un Metro. Took the iron sights and went all-out. I believe I got around 45 kills with it in that one game

Anyone else experiencing a rise in discrimination on BF3 servers? I'm consistently being kicked because of my nationality from German servers. Funny thing being that I have 33ms max, so can't be nothing more than racism.

I got kicked from some Russian servers...think it's because they want people from their own country, to decrease ping as much as possible.

That's the one main complaint I've heard with it, but from my limited experience, Battlefield 3 is far superior to CoD, despite the sometimes empty feeling. Plus, I was a big fan of the Star Wars Battlefront series that seem to have been inspired gameplay-wise by the Battlefield series.

It is superior its just the fact these maps were made for pc where you have 64 players compared to 24 on console.

It has to be very uncomfortable playing BF3 with a gamepad, but then you don`t have Origin, so it equals itself out.

I`m getting quite envious of people who can play great games without Steam or Origin or on 24\7 internet on their consoles...

There is a contest to design your own maps. I dont really care about the prize but I think Dice is generally interested and if they are what will they do with the entries? Will they make the map? Will it be in the last DLC next year or an additional unannounced DLC?

I cant think of any ideas now beyond general city urban combat maps but anyone here with a great imagination should definitely add their thoughts.

The next DLC after Armoured Kill was announced. Aftermath.

Basically, from the title page: 4 URBAN MAPS, FIGHT THROUGH DAMAGED TERRAIN, NEW GAME MODES & ASSIGNMENTS.

Set amongst the shattered districts, streets and surrounding villages of a post-earthquake Tehran, Battlefield 3™: Aftermath depicts a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation.
With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.

• Urban warfare on four new maps
• Fight through the dust and rubble, use the earthquake damaged terrain to your tactical advantage
• New heavily modified military and civilian vehicles – ingenuity and firepower combined
• New game mode
• New assignments, achievements and dog tags

Sounds like it will take place after the earthquake and feature heavily destroyed cities. Sounds like fun. Hoping you can enter most buildings and lay ambushes.

Interesting to see what vehicles they feature.

If it doesn't have an armoured SUV with an MG, technicals, and an armoured Bus, then I don't want it.

Well if its a ravaged urban environment I dont think a Bus would work very well... And maybe there are no SUVs there?

Besides a bus would be a very easy target for an RPG if it has to be careful not to hit rubble or a mine in tight streets.
