is it possible to make unit colours customizable?

Unfortuantely, there is no way to do this as of yet.

then maybe someone should look at warhammer mark of chaos/battle march and look at how they did it because i know that you can do it in their game and that their game is pretty much identical to total war

I think you will get the same answer that everyone got until now for this questions. If you want it, do it yourself =)

The games may be similar, but there engines are nothing alike except for the fact that you control armies and move them about the battlefield. Unfortunately, the idea of a "custom colors mod" isn't possible
