The Railway Thread

Discuss railway plans with other people/kingdoms here.
It might be useful since many people mean to build railways to places, and there's no thread for this.

Original thread: I had planned to talk with Stuntdawg on the Minecraft chat about this, but... y'know.

So, will we build it (eventually) Stunt?

I would like a railway throughout the various kingdoms, would make it easier to find my way around

It would. The dwarves have a rail to the city, though for some reason josst only made it one way.

I don't want anything to do with railroads, no Industrial Age technology in my fortress!

Yessiree...I just need to figure out how to do it with minimum water contact. I hate making tunnels in water. But I think I will begin once my walls are finished and basic road works have been begun in my city

me and eol are making a railroad to connect the colony with eastern squeaktasia.
if anyone would like to connect to that once its finished,go ahead.

i have also disscussed with akar building a railroad between the new USSR and squeaktasia.

Stunt I was thinking if we buiild hte railway directly underneath the road it'd be a lot quicker than navigating around water and all, although it'd take more boosters and time to do instead of a straight railway (through watery areas)

Making a fully boosted underground railway is alot of work and very vulnerable to damage, literally walking on the track will break most (hence why underground is really nessacary). Making it two ways is a complete bore... I would say walking is best in most cases.
