    Default Changing a nations descriptions

I was wondering how one would change the characteristics of any given nation. Eg: changing the Songhai nation from a middle east islam look to an asian pagan look?

To change the characteristics of a nation you have to edit the descr_sm_factions.txt. Changing the culture entry will change the buildings and changing the religion entry will change the religion.

You need to use a culture in the descr_cultures.txt and a religion in the descr_religions.txt or the mod will crash.

Thanks very much. I managed to do it in the 1230CE campaign. I changed the Moors to pagan and got them to build pagan temples instead of islamis structures.

I was wondering if it is possible to change the icon of the merchant into a workshop type structure when he is trading a resource. It will stop the game looking like a place for lurking men standing and doing nothing. Just a thought.

Though it may be possible to transform a merchant it would require a new model. Their movement and dying animation would also be odd.

Why does Bosnia has same description as Byzantium?
And why does every vanilla nation has same description as vanilla campaign in every campaign?
Is it that hard to just change description?

They would be merchants moving about the map as usual, just when they start trading a resource do they change into a model of a workshop or something similar. If they get bought out by a competitor then the workshop would vanish as does the merchant does now. Would it be possible to only allow merchants of those nations with whom you have a trade agreement into your territory?

In which campaign does Bosnia have the wrong description?

It's not difficult to change the descriptions but it is time consuming to research the history of 30 factions for each of the 12 campaigns. If you wish to make a submod with more relevant descriptions you'll need to update the 'mods\conquest\data\text\campaign_descriptions.txt' file.

If may be possible to give them a trait that will change their unit model, in the same way priests can become bishops, however I don't know whether M2TW will be able to cope with a workshop when all the merchant's animations are for humans. I could try testing this using the mine but I don't know what the results will be.

I'm fairly sure you can't prohibit merchants without a trade agreement from entering your territory.

The mine idea sounds like a plan.
