Where the Exiles Are
By CountMRVHS
The night Feanor lost his Silmarils and made mischief of one kind
and another
Manwe called him "Wild thing!"
and Feanor said "I'll get them back!"
so he went to Beleriand without eating anything.
That very night in Valinor a Noldorin host grew
and grew --
and grew until the sky hung thick with torch-smoke
and the soldiers filled the country all around
and an ocean tumbled by with a Telerin fleet for Feanor
and he sailed off through night and day
and in and out of weeks
and almost over a year
to where the Exiles are.
And when he came to the place where the Exiles are
they swore their terrible oaths and gnashed their terrible teeth
and shook their terrible spears and showed their terrible swords
till Feanor said "BE STILL!"
and tamed them with the magic trick
of staring into all their eyes without blinking once
and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all
and made him king of all Exiles.
"And now," cried Feanor, "let the wild rumpus start!"
(crazy dance montage)
"Now stop!" Feanor said and sent the Exiles off to fight Morgoth
without their supper. And Feanor king of all Exiles was wounded
and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.
Then all around from far away across the world
he smelled good things to eat
so he gave up being king of where the Exiles are.
But the Exiles cried, "Oh please don't go--
we'll get your gems -- we love you so!"
And Feanor said, "No!"
The Exiles swore their terrible oaths and gnashed their terrible teeth
and shook their terrible spears and showed their terrible swords
but Feanor stepped into his private boat and waved good-bye
and sailed back over a year
and in and out of weeks
and through a day
and into the night of Mandos's very own room
where he found his supper waiting for him
and it was still hot.
^ that was beautiful ;-;
There has been a distinct lack of screenshots in this thread lately, lets see if we can do something to fix that!
Here is something currently waiting for integration into the testing build, all credit and many thanks go to Jarlaxe for the Dunedanic building models, I just played lego with them a bit.

Wow, this is really something breathtaking, specially the citadel on the hill
Btw. will there be any new Dunedanic portraits added to the mix. I was always bit irritated that none of their portrait has long hair or helmet. Maybe adding some "more civilised looking" portraits form "men of the north" pool can make the portrait mix more varied. I even thought that some of the roman and barbarian late antiquity portraits made by Joar for IB mods make fit also into the forthage atmosphere. But maybe you see it differently
Portraits require a lot of work (and we don't have an active 2D artists at the moment), so we won't be making any new ones prior to release. Currently, the Dunedain use selected vanilla Roman portraits. I don't think our Northmen ones (taken from the Viking portraits of MTW). However, if you know of any mods that have appropriate ready-to-use portraits then please point us to the image (or a screenshot of the portrait folder) and we might approach the mod team to ask permission!
Webba's doing some sterling work with the settlements!

I had the portraits which Joar made for Invasio Barbarorum Somnium Apostrate Iuliani in my mind. The same portraits are also present in Invasio Barbarorum Vltra Gloriam Romae and IB2 series for M2TW. Beside those alredy mentioned mods Joar is still working on the new portraits for soon to be released Invasio Barbarorum Ruina Romae and Invasio Barbarorum Restitutor Orbis which is also on development.
I know the late antiquity Roman and Romano-Germanic portraits is not exactly something which would perfectly fit the Dunedians of FATW but I still think that selection of them may fit better than selection of vanila Roman portraits. However, I understand that you or majority of fans may prefer the curently used ones over those proposed as neither of them are really fiting so choice is more dependent on personal preference of everyone which he consider to fit better.
You can see the examples of portrasits of IB SAI (alredy released) below under the subsection factions:

Thanks. We can't use these portraits because they are not alpha-layered, it would just take too long to convert them. However, I will take a look through and see if any are particularly suitable - though I will only be able to select a few due to the time it takes to alpha them. I'm downloading IB SAI now and already have Joar's permission to use. Thanks again.

You are welcome. I think even if you add only a few of them it will spice up a bit the selection currently used.
That's official proof, you guys are insane! I never ever expected THAT to come!
*drooling*
I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.
Concerning the portraits: what about using those of Third Age TW, if permitted and if they could be converted to the Rome engine, of course (can't remember now if it's feasible in some easy way). And if I recall correctly, Lord of the Rings TW also uses mod-specific portraits, besides those of the movies' characters (but I could be wrong though, only played LOTR:TW for a very brief amount time); what about those?
They are in a different style, and also movie-based. Not to mention that possibly several break copyright.

Oh it is simply beutiful. Can't wait for the upcoming release.
Really nice, I always loved the symbols and colors of Adunabad faction. I feel almost sorry to use them as an evil faction.
