Probably not - they were used quite after our timeframe. It wouldn't be realistic
Unless, of course, someone makes a submod set *after* our end date.

Just wanted to compliment you guys on the map agian. It looks great!
yeah I agree there is no reason to add them though they could been added since they are in your time frame but not really at the time of cyrus you could make it like the vanilla when romans get axilia instead of the old unit roster. but that wouldn't be neccesary.
BTW: are you guys going to add some historical battles in v3 ?
what happend to sparta??
You haven't read the preview well enough
As soon as we get the Baktrian units to work, a preview will be coming. Perhaps we should showcase some of the stuff The_Blacksmith has done. He's awesome. Did you know that?
well I'm not sure that the cataphracts (fully armoured cavelary/ zerehbaran) was invented yet. In this time frame if any faction are going to have cataphracts it should most likly be the sakas, however when it comes to cav I think the median nisean hourses could get a power boost they were stronger than most of the cav of the area.
are they going to have a stronger cav than the medians???
I was hoping you give the medians nisean horses a boost , however armoured lancers should have great defense but they should be slower and have lower attack .
again don't you guys have plans for giving the medians horse masters any advantage????
Looks Great keep up the good work!!!!
I think only babilu can field horse archers... will this be changed in 3.0?
^Of course. That's one of the primary points on our list
glad to hear, is there any info on a release date? I know mod teams hate to be asked this but I can't help it
Would be nice to hear how things are going though! is progress being made? And are all you guys alright?
Also, one thing about the map: isn't the Isthmus a little bit too wide? I like being able to block it with one army. I've been there in real life and you can walk from one coast to another in a few minutes really. I read in a novel that the Greeks amassed their troops on the Isthmus and even built a wall to keep the Persians out during the invasion of Xerxes!
Another thing I've always wondered about, which you seem to have changed. In the current ROP version, but also in EB, Fars looks like a sort of mountain valley being surrounded on mountains at all side in a sort of circle. Always found it look kind of cute, but I suppose it doesn't represent reality? Any reason why the map was designed this way? Just one of these tiny little insignificant things I have wondered about for ages...
Anyway, map looks good! Hope it just doesn't take 10 turns to get from Persepolis to Susa
Seems it kinda does, actually. Yeah, sure, in real life it's more like a plateau surrounded by mountains, but that'd not bide well in RTW.
Now, looking at this topographic map of the Zagros mountain range, I start to think the RoP map is surprisingly accurate, considering it's an RTW campaign map. No wonder it's so often requested by other modders.
Wow, nice map. So here it does kind of look like it's an encircles valley... But in the new screenshots, but also in for example Broken Crescent mod for Medieval 2, it looks completely different.
I just found a very similar map at Wikipedia too...
