Virtual Store does not apply to XP - it's from Vista onward.

Hi, I'm having problems installing your mod. I am running Win 7 64 bit and this on a steam purchased copy of Med 2/Kingdoms.

When installing it wants to install to C:\Program Files (x86)\MyProduct ??? It said not to change the directory so I let it go but no luck. I reinstalled Med 2 and tried forcing the path to the correct steam extension but still nothing? Not showing up in the Med 2 launcher and when clicking the desktop icon I get " Windows cannong find 'kingdoms.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

    Any help would be great!

Your registry entry for M2TW is not the one the installer is looking for (64 system is slightly different). Unfortunately I didn't make allowance for that.

Install the mod into the suggested folder and then move the mods\westeros folder into the mods folder of the game.
Afterward run this: Creating a World - Mod Install for Steam
If you haven't done it, then do this as well from step 3 onward before moving the mod: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems

I have Windows 7 and Steam, and I was having similar problems as stated by a number of other users; namely, that it would load up after renaming the westeros mod folder to one of the 4 existing ones (such as americas), however after starting the campaign it would crash to desktop with a message like "encountered an unspecified error and will now exit". Also, it was not creating a log file.

I followed the recommended steps here: How to fix UAC. I just skipped down to step 3 under how to fix, browsing to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ directory to change the security permissions on the Medieval II Total War folder. Even though there was an entry for all users on my PC with full control, the entry for my named user account on the PC had none of the boxes checked. I added full control to my named user, and that fixed the CTD problem for me.

    Hope this helps someone else.

Renaming your mod folder for Steam use is outdated - check my link in the previous post to make it easy and allow unlimited mods.

    Default Problems with the Mod

I'm not sure if you guys can help me out but I thought I might as well ask.

    Problem
I have no issues getting to the faction selection screen, however once I've picked one and go to start the campaign the loading bar fills up about 1/5 of the way and then it crashes to desk top. No error message or anything.

    Solutions tried =
    I have tried installing -
    0.51
    0.53
    0.53 w/ installer
All of them have the same problem.
Medieval Total War and kingdoms are both fully patched and installed and the directory is clean.
I have tried completely reinstalling everything several times and have gotten one of my more computer able friends to give it a shot. She has been unable to do anything either

Oh I'm on Vista if that helps....

Well if anybody wants to give me a hand, it's much appreciated and having looked at the previews and some videos the mod looks absolutely outstanding, good job various guys/gals.

Is the RAR just the zipped version of the game without the installer?

I'm not amazingly great with the whole folder thing :/

Is that the whole log? Better to compress and attach it. Attaching goes via 'Go advanced' and the 'Manage attachments'. Compression will reduce the file size tremendously - 17Mb will become 500KB for example.

Okay so everything is legitimately installed
    Everything is fully patched
I've followed the UAC and Virtual store problem guide thing
    The installation goes fine
The mod runs custom battles fine
But when I start the campaign for the first time the bar half loads then it crashes to desktop, there's no error message or anything.
If it's relevant the map also does not appear

Hi, this is my first post ever here, but I've viewed some hotseats and they look really fun, I'd like to get into them. So, I've used the installer, the Westeros shortcut has appeared on my desktop. But, when I click it, it just starts the regular launcher, and when I press "play" on the launcher there's no "Westeros" option, just the usual Kingdoms and vanilla options. I'm playing through steam, and the installer had the directory as under mods in steamapps/common/MTW2, so I didn't change it. Am I doing something wrong? I really wanna play. Thank you!

    1. Install as directed
    2. Browse to C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Medieval II Total War\mods
    3. Rename one of the Kingdoms campaign folders (Americas, Brittania, Crusades, Teutonic) to something else
    4. Rename the Westeros folder to the name you changed in step 3
    5. Select the name you used from the Launcher

This was a really cool idea, I hope the same happens for the 1.0 release, I'm actually more excited for this than any other retail game on the horizon.
