67 downloads in the first week. Not bad, considering how long this has been up before and that it is a beta.

    Hi Gigantus,

Steam user here. So I used your guide on the registry keys to do those manually (neither the autoloader or the autoregistry program put them in the right place) and got the Westeros option on the launcher but it says every time I try to load Westeros "...suffered a fatal error and will now exit." Interestingly, if I hit the bat file from the Westeros folder I get this message for all of the Kingdoms campaigns (Teutonic, Americas, etc) while if I don't, those campaigns work fine. Either clicking the bat file or loading it normally through Steam I always get the fatal error with Westeros. Got any ideas?

I also tried to get the log files by moving the hash as you mentioned previously in this thread but I don't get any log file.

    Cheers!

Did you try to use the installer app from Squid? If you are having problems with it, I would suggest to contact him directly in the thread for it. He might be able to shed more light on it, seeing that he is the author.
I am afraid I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to Steam, another option of inquiry would be through the Technical Forum. The log issue could have to do with the UAC, give this tutorial a try as well.

If anyone gets this to work with steam, let me know. Thanks!

Got it to work. Kinda gay but all I did was launch from Medieval II in steam instead of Medieval II Kingdoms.

You can set which exe to use in the app from Squid. Did you set it to medieval2 ?

    Details to be entered:
    Quote:
Mod Name: Enter the Name that you wish to be displayed in the Launcher
Config File: Browse to the CFG file of your new mod
    Language: Should be "English"
Path: browse to the path of your new mod, eg mods\NewMod
Game EXE: choose whether your mod is for kingdoms or Medieval II

Actually, I set it for kingdoms but when I start the MII launcher I need to hit mII in steam not kingdoms. This is weird but it works.

Please check if Westeros is now installed in the Medieval II Total War\mods folder
Are you using Steam to play Medieval II?

    - The mod is for kingdoms - have you got the kingdoms campaigns installed?
    - Please describe in more detail when the crash happens (eg pressing the start button in the faction screen)
    - Compress and attach your log, you will find it here: Medieval II Total War\logs/M2TW.system.log.txt

These sample errors would indicate a mess up of the installation with Third Age. As far as I know the evil_ambassador strat map character is from Third Age.
I would suggest to run the installation for westeros again. Manually delete the complete Medieval II Total War\mods\Westeros folder and then install again. The installer is set to find your M2TW through the registry, so a change in the install directory should not be necessary.

I manually deleted Westeros, I reinstalled but still the same problem ...
But now I know that the problem comes from Third age.

Is Third age installed into the \mods folder? Because it looks as if it is partially installed into the main folder (TATW comes in two parts).
If you haven't unpacked anything, then your Medieval II Total War\data folder should be empty of files. Only folders should be in there. Should you have files in there, let me know their names.

Yes Third age it's in /mods floder.
in Medieval II TW/data I have:
    annimations
    banners
    cursors
    fmv
    models_effects
    models_strat
    sounds
    text
    ui
    world
and text files but not Third age.

Unless you have installed some other mods (eg better water, reduced textures) then the stuff I marked in red shouldn't be there. Looks like some installation gone wrong. Can you please check if the models_strat folder contains the evil_ambassador.cas file?
Another indication would be if you have an export_descr_units file in the M2TW\data folder and the first lines in it look like this:
    ;##################################
    ;########## TATW 2.0 ##############
    ;##################################
