    Default Self teaching Latin.

As I almost about to finish my French course, I realize how much I hate this language. I have always had a passion for Classical Books (as I have about 4), and I think I would like to self teach myself Latin. I was wondering if there are any teachers here, or people who have taught themselves Latin also. If you have, or if you have any suggestion (books, software, dictionaries) please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Erik

Why do you dislike French? Personally I think its music to the ears compared to English

Perhaps I would love French if it was taught in a different environment, but in this one I don't enjoy it. My teacher is incompetent. He can't teach grammar professionally, he is constantly adjusting his statements; making understanding complicated grammar ideas difficult to grasp. The worksheets we do our boring. It is argumentum ad nauseam (woot here's some Latin, or at least it sounds Latin ).

I have grown accustom to our Anglo-Saxon language so I naturally enjoy the sound of it.

I know what you mean, a lot of adults I know did French in high school but came out of it only knowing 'Bonjour'. I hate it myself and I have two more years left of the horrible language and its teachers.

I have a book though, I think it's called Latin for Surviving the 21st Century. But I guess, unless you're truly serious you won't want to buy it. It does have a lot of the basics and a few intermediate things.
