"Please select item from list"

I have tried everything to get this mod to work! I have rome total war gold edition and I've tried updating to rtw 1.5 and it says I have gold edition so it's not compatible, i've tried updating BI to 1.6 and it says I have gold edition so it's not compatible as well. I have the latest edition of Extended Cultures installed and it will load up with the modified startup screen and everything so I know it's installed right, I've installed many other mods with success such as RTR and SPQR but with this mod when I select the Imperial campaign or any provincial campaign it simply say "please select item from list", and when I exit out of the game it tells me
"Line 24, column 1
expected start date of campaign or battle"
I've searched online for literally hours so now I've finally created an account with twcenter just to try to get some help on this, so please help.
BTW, I've selected faster movement rates, land bridges, and the cities thing
Oh, and if this is already answered I sincerely apologize for wasting your time but it's completely eluded me if an answer to this problem is out there, because everywhere I've read says to update BI, but mines already updated and I'm 100% sure it's version 1.6, and the update to 1.6 is incompatible with gold, as previously stated

What is your XC installer version?
It sounds like a problem we had with a recent release but it should be fixed by now.

Try going into your TW folder/xc/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial campaign (or barbarian invasion or alexander depending on your exe).

You will find a file called descr_strat.txt
Try deleting the line that says "options bi" and see if it starts.
If the error changes then it's a patching problem and will require some other solution...

Well I can look at the factions in the imperial campaign now but when I start it CTD, and all the provincial campaigns still ask to select an item from list

Ok, this means your gold is not patched to 1.6 but the patch installer is failing to detect it...
If you have a friend with RTW or BI not gold you could probably take his patched exe and copy it in your RTW installation folder, if not I'll try to find some other way and let you know.

I'm a trucker, so finding another trucker who plays rtw can be difficult. If it comes down to it I'll buy another rtw but I'm confused because I'm using the rtw.exe not the BI.exe so it shouldn't matter what version my BI is should it? And I'm pretty sure gold is updated to 1.5 already for rtw

Unfortunately no, some copies of RTW gold are patched to 1.3 but the installer says they are 1.5 or 1.6.

I think there is a way to fool the installer into letting you patch the game but I'll need to research a bit.

Yay! It works now. I downloaded a nocd crack for BI 1.6 and selected the bi.exe from options in your test version and now it works, of coarse I'm not sure which one fixed it but at least it works now

It's the 1.6 exe.
I didn't want to suggest using a crack as it's against the forum rules but sometimes it's the easiest solution.
