    Default Your Preferred House Rules/Settings

I'm curious to see how the people of the community use such house rules to make the campaign more enjoyable for themselves.

I've tried 4tpy and x2 research but it seems waaay to slow to me, and it seems that I outpace the other powers vastly in technology in a couple years. I've also tried x2 artillery since I love artillery, but I don't know whether that is historical(I like to play historically) or not since I always carry at most three artillery units in my armies. Any comments?

So how do you pace yourself in the game?

As far as house rules are concerned I follow the immortal words of Hip63

Rule # 1: Crush all who oppose me
    Rule # 2: See Rule # 1

    Some of my rules:

1- Arty 1.5 (6 pieces in a unit), max 2-3 per army(usually just 1-2), this make you actually use your and cav inf to win the battle rather then just shower them with cannon to death.
2- Gift your tech as soon as you are secure at your position, so that other nations can field stronger larger and more intresting Fleets and Armies.
3- Help your allies as much as you can - send troops, mony, tech, win them back thier regions and gift it back to them.
In my current campaign as Russia I went to war with the Ottomans, Persia and Dagestan just to save my Orthodox ally - Georgia, I sent 3 armies into the region taking Armenia, Dagestan (now destroyed) and Azerbyjan. After the population calms down and the regions are more developed I will gift them to Georgia, this will create a new and strong nation on my southern border.
4- No blitz attacking at the start of the campaign - 1-2 regions at most, so the AI nations can develop.

    Cheers

I would agree with Tango and Hip with the following change:

#2 Use x1.5 artillery, don't take too many with you, "many" corresponds to the occation.
I usually have 2-4 cannons/mortars with me. I want a balanced army to fight off in any situation. If you get 7 cannons in your army and find yourself fighting in a wood or hilly terrain where you can actually use 2-3 at a time, you're 4 units less. If you find yourself facing an army of 12 cavalry, then again, your cannons will be no good.

And my new rule that sufficiently increased enjoyment:
#3 Crush your enemies fast and efficiently, blitzing and all. Then, after you've grinded them to dust...
change factions with the esf editor.
#4 Try to do the same with a faction with 2 starting provinces vs your former empire of 20+ provinces.

    *Try to be outnumbered
    *Avoid Sieges
*Batter the enemy in submission (Ruin their economy by war)
