Thread: How to change some features in OiM

Default How to change some features in OiM

Hi! I was confused whether to write in Polish or in English. I expect most of the people interested in OiM to be Polish/Russian... But as it is an international forum...

I have some questions how to change some features in this mod:

For example, I would like the LATE Winged Hussars and Dragoni to be available immediately from the beginning of a new campaign as Poland.

Also, I would like that Prussia and Austria are less aggressive towards Poland (and keep alliances if such exist).

And during the Swedish invasion Lithuania backstabs Poland and allies itself with Sweden. Is it possible to change the script in a way that only few Lithuanian regions join the Swedish. And then if Poland is able to withstand (as not giving away territory to Sweden or Lithuania) the first Swedish invasion, the Lithuanians join Poland in an alliance once again (because someone else becomes king/prince... of Lithuania). Is that doable?

And please, be precise, exact (in which folder, which file do I change, what exactly do I change etc.) because I really don't know anything about this.

... That is very simple, dont worry... You must to change: export_descr_buildings.txt

Go to inside Data folder (inside bi folder).

First, you must to know the tag of the unit (type line, in the: export_descr_units.txt)... in this case: rp winged hussar late:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    type rp winged hussar late
    dictionary rp_winged_hussar_late ;Winged Hussars
    category cavalry
    class heavy
    voice_type Heavy_1
    soldier rp_winged_hussar_late, 30, 0, 2.5
    officer rp_reitar_officer
    mount horse lusiano elite brovn
    mount_effect elephant -8, camel -4
    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, frighten_foot, very_hardy, power_charge
    formation 1.5, 4, 3, 6, 3, square
    stat_health 1, 0
    stat_pri 11, 30, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, spear, 25 ,1
    stat_pri_attr no
    stat_sec 13, 7, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, sword, 25 ,1
    stat_sec_attr no
    stat_pri_armour 12, 8, 0, metal
    stat_sec_armour 2, 2, flesh
    stat_heat 5
    stat_ground -3, 0, -4, 0
    stat_mental 14, disciplined, highly_trained
    stat_charge_dist 95
    stat_fire_delay 0
    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 2, 1300, 300, 130, 180, 1600
    ownership empire_west, empire_east, slave

... then, you must to go to: export_descr_buildings.txt file... and search (Ctrl+B): rp winged hussar late:

you encounter with the unit in the equestrian buildings: hippodrome (can to see?)

0 number indicates the experience of the unit, requires factions who can recruit, and "and marian_reforms", indicate they can recruit after marian_reforms (=P), in the game that appears after you build an "imperial palace" (the last building of government)... if you want can delete that (and marian_reforms)... in this form, the unit appears available in the moment you build the building. And copy the line of the unit, and put them in the first equestrian building (stables, or anywhere you want)...

This is complicated a bit more...

First you must to know the: missions.txt file (bi/data/scripts/show_me/missions.txt)... there you can encounter with all events (historics, generally) in the campaign map... to make a file how that... is not easy job (almost a year I'm working on my own... and only came to understand some things )

    I suggest study here, first:

In the descr_strat.txt file (bi/data/world/maps/campaign/OiM/descr_strat.txt) at bottom, in the diplomacy section; you can encounter the necessary statistics for edit that... but is only for the start campaign

I have a somewhat related question to Lithuania: why is its banner ( on cities and on strat map units ) like this? Sorry, didn't have a zoomed in screenshot. But it's clear that the banners are not a symbol of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

As for the backstabbing, well, here's some more detailed info on that, copied from the wiki. Fact is, it didn't really have any effect, and so I doubt it's really worth the effort of adding it into the mod.

The Treaty of Kėdainiai or Kiejdany, signed on 17 August 1655, was a Swedish–Lithuanian agreement during the Second Northern War.[1] After the Polish forces had been decisively defeated in the Battle of Ujście, whereupon the Poznan and Kalisz palatines surrendered to Sweden, Lithuanian hetman Janusz Radziwiłł decided to discontinue the war.[1] In Kėdainiai, he accepted Swedish protection.[1] The treaty further specified that the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth was not dissolved and Lithuanian forces would not fight Polish forces, although the text of the treaty included protests against the lack of Polish support.[1] On 20 October, the treaty was superseded by the Union of Kėdainiai, which united the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with the Swedish Empire.[1]
Union of Kėdainiai (or Agreement of Kėdainiai, Lithuanian Kėdainių unija or Kėdainių sutartis; Polish Umowa Kiejdańska) was an agreement between several magnates of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the king of the Swedish Empire, Charles X Gustav. It was signed on 20 October 1655 during the "Swedish Deluge", part of the Second Northern War.[1] In contrast the preceding Treaty of Kėdainiai of 17 August, which put Lithuania under Swedish protection,[1] the purpose of the Swedish-Lithuanian union was to end Lithuania's union with Poland, and set up two separate principalities in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. One of these was to be ruled by the Radziwiłł (Radvila) family, while the rest of the duchy was to remain a Swedish protectorate.

The agreement did not last for long and never came into effect, as the Swedish defeat in the Battles of Warka and Prostki as well as a popular uprising in both Poland and Lithuania put an end both to Swedish power and the influence of the Radziwiłłs.
Also, shouldn't both Poland and Lithuania have each other's maps revealed?

EDIT: Err, did not notice the date...

... I dont know, but is a good observation (I never would have happened look at it)... Anyway you can changing that, if you want. The folder is:

    .../.../Rome Total - War/bi/data/banners

That symbol is in the first file (symbols9.tga):

If you can, do it... but if you can not, and find it very annoying, give me 2 days, and me upload a modified file with the coat of arms of Lithuania.

And of course is noted for the list of reforms to the Argentine Version.

An historical appearance of this coats of arms, during XVI-XVII century is this:

but for a matter of details (they dont see in a little campaign banner) this is better i think:

... For the rest of the post, it is interesting to know, but do not know if it is feasible to do so ... or interesting to play ... do not forget that this is just a game.

Though of course you can add scripts, or modify a little script: missions, to mention the fact that happens in the game ... but I see complicated, and as I said, I do not know if it's something interesting ... You can also add as a historical event, but it would be just one message for your campaign.

    greetings.

Gamefront gives me a 'file not found' error.

Looks good though. Is that the Argentine version in the screenshots?
