A minute ago Makrell said someone had left Tnt in the spawn building (with the rules in it) and Aanker and I investigated.

We found this (and are currently sweeping community buildings in town for more)

Anyway i detonated it safely and no damage was done to the building but the message is watch out and if you have any info please come forwards...

Also if you find any other tnt in walls then build a cobblestone cage around it and fill it with water. Once the tnt is fully emersed set it off and no damage will be done (doesnt matter if some bits of the tnt are touching surfaces, just that no surfaces of the tnt are in contact with any air).

We have two suspects, of which both logged on and were previously unknown to any of the members online on the server at the time before the discovery. Owing to its location near the /home (respawn) position, it is likely that the TNT was placed there quite recently.

As you all are aware, one can only access TNT by either getting it from an OP, or finding salpeter in a dungeon. I highly doubt that any of the OPs would have given a newcomer a set of TNT, much less that this act of griefing would have been carried out by an OP. Is there any way to hack Minecraft? It seems to me, at least, highly unlikely that someone would dedicate lots of time only to craft one TNT explosive.

Just to say I found this around 5:30-6:00 UK time and immediatly notified people on the server. Makrell was first there afterwards, then Josst and Aanker came to deal with it. We were the only four online when it was discovered.

Also, does anyone else find it odd that TNT was left there without being detonated?

This may mean:

1. It was an accident and the person simply didn't come forward.
2. The griefer is an awful griefer.
3. The griefer has a sense of theatrics.

I'd be careful of any building around the city for now, if the person had more TNT they may have simply left it hidden in places they think people will dig, so they set it off themselves.

I think they had little knowledge about tnt, and set it up so that we had to detonate it to rewmove it, and therefore destroy the house, by our own hand

Now, that, is a good point. I suggest everyone check their chests. And for future reference: do not leave explosives or other dangerous objects of destruction accessible to other players.

Do people keep TNT in chests? I'm forever telling people to destroy excess TNT because this is exactly what happens when it is left lying around.

Look ye youngens, only some of these server goers know, the tale of ol' Petrov... Twas a boy led on the wrong direction. He turned towards a path of corruption and evil. You dont need to cover it in cobblestone? I am sure (And I have done t MUCH) is that you put it in water, and then detonate it, it can still hurt you, but it wont destroy everything. BUT I mightbe wrong, SO you might wanna test it.
