    Nah, there're these coin-operated washers in front of my building, I just put my clothes in there and come back when their done

    Yes, coin operated washers, that's what I thought of. Didn't know how to explain. There's no such thing here, everyone owns a washing machine and I always thought it peculiar to wash clothes like that.
