Thread: Should I take my PC down from the loft?

    Default Should I take my PC down from the loft?

    I put my PC up in the loft about 3 months ago, due to wanting to prove to my family, that I could go without a TV or a PC, bare in mind I'm 19 years of age and work. I've found that on my days off, I now spend a lot more time, reading books and watching the occasional movie but I also spend a lot of time, staring out of my window and just wasting the day away, because I can't read all day, it gets very tiresome on the mind. Sure I should go out and party etc, but I much prefer to stay at home.

    Now, I'm wondering, in your opinon, should I take my PC down from the loft and start playing some games again? (I don't play multiplayer games, just RPGs and games with good stories and of course Total War) If I stopped myself from playing 5-8 hours a day, which I used to, restricted myself to a couple hours a day, or a few spread across the day.

    I feel like, I'm old enough to make this decision but I also feel pressure from my family and I'm fed up trying to make the decision, I figured some outside opinons would do me good, maybe a game forum is the wrong place to ask though!

    Thanks a lot and much love.

    Unless you feel you are addicted and have no self control, you can adjust the amount of time you spend watching TV, playing games or surfing the internet. If it's family pressure, demonstrate you can lead a balanced lifestyle by both doing the above and partying/reading/outdoors.

    One should never refrain from pleasures unless they involve hurting someone else.

    @JDW
    Try to involve yourself with additional activities like working out or playing some outdoor games with your friends, swimming etc is also a good time killer. If you don't like such options and prefer to stay at home, as you say, then boot up your PC again no need to waste time like that by staring down windows and stuff.

    Tonnes of interesting stuff to read on internet, historical, scientific articles etc.

    You need a challenge man. An idle mind is the devil's workshop. Even if you're atheist, there's still a lot to learn from the saying.

    Have something to work towards. Check out local community colleges or something. Computers are a good way to relax, but shouldn't be used as time killers.

    There is rarely an excuse for an healthy person with an excess of spare time not to work out or exercise that have no roots in laziness.

    Sorry if that offends anyone but.. Not really.

    Think of all the noobs that are not getting pwned because you are a quitter.

    Man up and get back to pwning noobs, not because you want to, but because it is the right thing to do.

    Actually i'd say you should take the next step and remove it from your loft and smash it into pieces.
