"Heavy" Skirmishers
Some of our factions lvl1 javelin armed troops historically and in game are equipped in a heavier way than pure ranged skirmishing troops, iberian caetratii are an apt example.
Given the fact that AI loves recruiting them and the current arrangement makes them exceedingly vulnerable to cavalry, would you consider switching them to a light infantry role?

Re: "Heavy" Skirmishers
Think it's a good plan, should be like the Theuro's, gotta be good thing. Also with the AI recruiting so many of them, it'll be nice not to have to chase 1/3 of an enemy stack around the map!

What Total Roach said. The Thureophoroi work well, so those should too.

Re: "Heavy" Skirmishers
Take into account that being lvl1 units means they are still best used in harassing roles and will be cut to pieces by heavier units (although will fare decently against garrison ones).

Re: "Heavy" Skirmishers
So are you saying the stats would be kept the same, but they'll no longer lead us on a chase around the battlefield and will be slightly less vulnerable to cavalry because they're not skirmishers?

Re: "Heavy" Skirmishers
They will be slightly less vulnerable because they will try to stand and fight, once in combat they retain the skirmisher penalties versus cavalry and their low mass.

Re: "Heavy" Skirmishers
It sounds like a good idea. I think you should do it

Re: "Heavy" Skirmishers
Done, will be introduced in next build.
Most javelin skirmishers (except akontistai, machimoi and a few AOR equivalents) will now try to stand and fight, although not for long.
