after playing EB for a few turns as the Casse i have come to two conclusions:

    1) i hate rebels!!!!
    2) you have to keep watch of your money all the time and it is very hard to get enough to build something perhaps a bit too hard?? and buildings are sooo expensive and take a long time to build

but apart from them i like the map it is very well done, the units look good and i like the different government systems in place all in all it is a fun mod even in this early stage.. well done EB team!

Could only play for a few turns, so these may not be final:

    Pros:
-Unit speeds are perfect; not too fast and not too slow
-new skins and animations, enough said
-challenging start, something that RTR didn't have
    -loading screens look wonderful
-new buildings and city specific ones really add to the game

    Cons
-minor bugs, such as Romans using the banner of the Seleucids
    -long load times
-2 handed pike doesn't have an attack animation; the soldiers kinda just move a 1 cm forward and back

Remember also, the release of Beta was done to allow the fans to have a taste of the full mod and also to enlist help on tracking down some bugs that cannot be found in a closed Beta. Also dont forget there are Thousands of lines of scripted code in the game and many stuff is going on that you dont even notice. Load times can be caused by campaign map graphic changes. I am afraid your going to see more and more mod have longer load times because of the Ship mod and map units being changed.

So far IMO not bad for a Beta dont the rest of you guys think so? I have seen RTR full releases with more issues than this affirmed BETA version. ;-)

Roman farms in the Yeuzhi starting territory. Armenian and Yuezhi generals have pontic bodyguards. Roman Slingers seem to be very powerful against Epirote elephants...

I played as the Ptolemey or whatever Egypt is called. They seem so far to be the only faction who don't have economical problems. I could expand economic structures and still earn about 7 000 cachings. But the Britts are murder to play. Me not like economics that you have.

    Playing Baktria right now.

This mod is wonderful. It almost has the same ambiance the MTW was able to give. I gave myself 2000 gold because I needed to retrain some units, but other than that I seem to be doing ok. I have 3 cities. Trade is good.

    Good:
    Great amount of detail
    Amazing Atmosphere
    Cool buildings
    Nice culture separation
    The AI is OK...

    Bad:
    Loading Times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Custom battle has too many units for one faction!!
I think there should be a little more economic ease
    Ships too expensive
Upkeep a little to high. As for this reason it is hard as an emerging faction to compete with a large faction.

    Cheers,
    Erik

I'll be installing it soon, and I think I'll make you guys (EB team) a preview video from it and also add your mod to my http://horsearcher.net server to have even more mirrors.

    - it explains the 'roman' farms in yuezhi territory. The pontic guards are a placeholder. Slingers and akontistai and archers are great against elephants.

First thing nto be done - adjust the unit cost and upkeep. having to disband your army on turn one just to survive financially does not make sense. This needs fixing ASAP.

BTW - EB team, I currently have some time on my hands and I could do some faction testing. let me know if you are interested.

Is this a bug? Don't know how Barae recieved the "Desert Warrior" trait.. He hasn't yet stepped outside the Casse starting province. But this would be a nice place to put a "Winter Survival" trait.

    Great mod so far!

I remember that bug, thought it'd been dealt with. Sorry bout that. I think I was going to write a batch of Celtic traits for the traiters that involved an alternative trait for folks up north, must've not gotten round to it.

Some one isn't paying attention to the huge number of posts dealing with the script.

Sorry. Anyway, yes, you must start the script. No, not every turn. Whenever you start or reload a game, follow the instructions. This script is HUGELY important, and without it gameplay goes all wrong. Many many features are tied to the script.

    Pros:

    -Units Cool
    -Love the Animations
    -Governments are cool
    -good Rebels

    Cons:
    -Upkeep alittle too high
-So, so, so, so, so, so, slow.
    -Ships cost too much
    -Almost impossible economy problems

Great for a beta overall! Though I can't wait for the full version. I expect alot out of that.

That is a design decision, and we have no plans on "fixing" it, either in the short or long term. We want the campaign start to be challenging financially, and to force the player to either attack full out, or disband.

Love it completely, the one thing i hate, and sorry if i sound like a whiner, but the romans are like tanks, i have to completely surrond 1 triarii unit with like 5 units to take it down, and the equites just dont die, i have surronde them completely, and they have routed all my men, even my generals calvary cant hold up to them. I am playing the epirus faction, and it is nearly impossible to defeat them,i had to rely on sheer numbers, and they are down to one faction, and with the loss of all starting territories, i find it impossible to defeat them. But love the work, the samnite mercenaries are a beautiful blue (blue my fav color so thanks alot) -Leon

    Default Epirotes

Quick summary of my first campaign at M/M with Epirus:

1st few turns I go into the red -14000
Disband units loose a few battles to the Macedonians due to their overpowered generals & cavalry.

Example: Macedonian general dives head on into my phalanx, goes right through them like a hot knife through butter continues kills my skirmishers comes back goes through my phalanx once more then proceeds to kill 2 more phalanxes head on I loose the battle. Yeah OK!!

I climb out of debt and moving along quite nicely.

268BC - All of a sudden a Macedonian diplomat moves up the coast and proceeds to bribe my capital and then my second city in Epirus.

I'm left with one city in Italy. It gets bribed also ............. GAME OVER!

I know this is a beta but come on.

Can you look into this bribing nonsense?

Battles were fun and I was enjoying the campaign but 3 of my cities get bribed???

Yeah, installed it, played as the greeks...wow this bribing is out of hand, Was bribing cities realistic back then? I suggest that the bribing system be reverted back to RTW vanilla or taken out entirely like SPQR did.

The other factions get more money so that they can be more of a challenge. The first time that happened to me I was ****** (the bribery - it was playing as Epeiros too), but then I just started paying some diplomats and they kept me out of trouble (put one in each city if you have bribery problems). It's a small price to pay to keep the AI challenging.
