Nether Survival Guide?

I know there is a normal survival guide, but I was wondering, anybody wanna make a 'Nether' survival guide?

Well, I would love to write it. I would extremely ENJOY it! But unfortunately I dont know HOW to sruvive iun the Nether, which brings me to ANOTHER reason it should be written

I continouly find myself not being able to mek myself back to the original portal I had, damn ghasts.

I think he means like diamond armor (breastplate, helmet, etc.), diamond sword, that stuff. I suggest running from cover to cover, creating cover, and not upsetting the zombie pigmen.

But a guide a little more in depth would be nice? Obviously akar wouldnt know what that means though.

'Sposedly Cobblestone can't be destroyed by ghasts. So any sort of fortress you build in the Nether should be made almost entirely of it.

Really? They seem to fire TNT at you, I'd have thought that would break cobblestone. If that is indeed the case, our Slipside staging post should be made of it.

I had envisaged simply making a large bunker around the Slipgate so the Ghasts wouldn't even see us coming in to fire at us.

Where do we get that much Obsidian, and we can't even get bedrock. When we get hell, I'll build a bunker around the portal so people will be protected coming in.

Obsidian is easy to get man, just tip a bucket on some lava, then spend a few minutes mining.

We'd have enough for a panic room inside the bunker at least.

I don't wanna reopen a buried thread, but i thought this kind of applied to now. Is there any way to stop the ghastss from spawning? and is it true that they don't destroy cobblestone? When i was playing in the Nether, I never realized just how big ghasts were, they are friggin' massive! all i could think of when i saw it was "holy shi*!" I didn't know exactly how to move around in the Nether, because i didnt want to get lost immediatly :b. When i spent some time there mining the glowstone, i began to realize just how big it was, and i thought about building a dam to keep the big white things out. lol i got blown off the top when i had 1 of 7 of the dams finished. Then i went to mine some Obsidian to build another portal and i died. so that's my experience in the Nether...

Does anyone have the NetherCraft mod? I thought that it was pretty cool considering how it utilised all that the Nether had to offer, and made you want to spend more time in it by adding stuff.

The glowstone is really hard to get to as well, it is almost always reallly, really high up, it is in kind of a sun-like position and over lava, and so is really hard to mine effectivly without making a platform under it. I have yet to find a better technique than that. What did u guys come up with?

No, tip a bucket of lava into some water. It takes longer, but you don't have to worry about losing your precious obsidian.

That won't do anything,the best way is to create an artificial lava lake one block deep and pour the water on top of that.

A handy tip for surviving the nether is to play in 3rd person and keep moving,the Gasts are programed to aim at the camera and will keep missing the player.

As long as something is between you and the ghasts, they don't open fire. Even glass, which means you can make transparent safe zones. And their fireballs occasionally disappear if you get behind cover as it comes towards you.
