    Default Ancillaries: suggestions?

    Hi everybody, as you all know, we are developing a new traits & ancillaries system, which aims to give an improved medieval atmosphere to the RM3 campaign. Up to now, we've added more than 30 traits and 30 ancillaries, which are combined with the original RTW traits and ancillaries*. However, we'd like to hear your oppinion on what ancillaries we should add. We are not asking for traits because we think that part is quite complete.

    Well, you can just start brainstorming possible medieval ancillaries so that we can discuse about them. I will not post any list of current ancillaries until we can make an official preview, but if you suggest something that has already been implemented, we'll let you know.


    *Those traits and ancillaries which were inconsistent with medieval times, were either modified or erased.

    1) Standard Bearer (+1 Command)
    2) Beatiful Wife (+1 Influence)
    3) Famous Merchant (Dont Know)
    4) Piece of the True Cross (Dont Know)

    Traits:
    1) King of *Name of the Faction*
    2) Religious Fanatic

    1) I like it. Perhaps it should give +1 troop morale.
    2) Cheating Wife (+8 troop morale)
    3) That's a good thing for Venice I think. There's an effect that is "Trading", so it could be +10 Trading (+10% income)
    4) Including some relics would be nice, butI'd rather change the relic, as we already have some crosses... perhaps the Shroud of Turin, or something alike.

    Traits:
    1) We have a complete coronation system.
    2) We have that one, but it's an ancillary.

    Thinks he hears God? Two versions, one where he might actually, and inspires troops, and one where he's crazy and everyone knows it, which does the opposite? I dunno.

    Some ancillaries and proposals for their effects:

    - War steed (+5% movement points)
    - Alchemist (IIRC, one can also mod the mining revenue: alchemist good for that, for example)
    - Harsh judge (-10% happiness)
    - Mathematician (+5% revenue from taxes, 10% discount on construction)
    - Tutor (+1 management)
    - Astrologer (-1 influence, +1 command)
    - Inventor (good effects on mining, maybe farming too; isn't there also a way of improving the siege "performance" anyhow?)
    - Guard dog (+1 personal security)
    - Archbishop (for catholics/christians, perhaps adding "of - insert name of famous archbishopric", according to the settlement where the general is + other triggers; +2 influence)
    - Jester (+1 influence)
    - Troubadour (+1 influence, +1 troop morale)
    - Chamberlain (for faction leaders only; +1 influence, -1 unrest)
    - Chancellor (given to the general who then becomes chancellor; +10% law, +2 influence)
    - Biographer (+1 influence)
    - Accounter, or clerk (+10% from tax revenue, -10% happiness)
    - Scribe (+1 management)
    - Translator (for diplomats; +2 influence)
    - Treasurer (+10% from taxes, 5% from trade, +1 unrest)
    - Architect (10% discount on construction costs, -1 squalor)
    - Phisician (+fertility, +possibility of recovering casualties after battle)
    - Scout (+15% movement points, +line of sight)
    - Master mason (15% discount on construction costs)
    - Caravan driver (middle-eastern & north-african factions, mainly; +15% movement points, + line of sight)
    - Torturer (+1 unrest, +2 law, -1 influence)
    - Faithful servant (+1 personal security)

    Well, that's quite a wide selection, thanks! Some of them are very similar to a few that are already included in the patch, but anyway, I like the effects you suggested, at least we can have a different point of view.

    I forgot to tell you that we are specially insterested in Muslim ancillaries, as we still have not any Muslim-realted ancillaries.

    Hashashin (For eastern factions, +2 Security and +1 Hit Point)
    Courtesans (+2 Troops morale)
    Hawker (+1 Influence, + line of sight)
    Famous Italian Condottiero (+1 Influence, +1 Command)
    Chinese Minister (+2 management, +1 Influence, +10% discount on construction costs)
    Hunter (+ Security)

    Well, I have tried to make a list or something of the sort with your suggestions, and I added some more ancillaries of my own as well:


    1) Standard Bearer (+1 Command)
    2) Merchant of Venice (+15% Trading)
    3) War steed (+1 HitPoints)
    4) Alchemist (+1 mining)
    5) Harsh judge (-10% happiness)
    6) Inventor (+ 20 or more building points, +1 Command when sieging)
    7) Chamberlain (for faction leaders only; +1 influence, -1 unrest)
    8) Chancellor (+10% law, +2 influence)
    9) Caravan driver (middle-eastern & north-african factions; +15% movement points, + 1 line of sight)
    10) Banner of the Crescent Moon (+1 command vs christian factions, -1 command vs muslim factions)
    11) Hashashin (for Eastern factions, +1 PersonalSecurity, -1 Unrest)
    12) Cortigiana onesta (+1 Troop morale, +1 influence)
    13) Cortigiana di lume (-1 Management,-1 Law, -10% movement points)
    14) Hawker (+1 Influence, + line of sight)
    15) Famous Italian Condottiero (+1 Influence, +1 Command, -10% Tax Income)
    16) Piece of the True Cross (+1 influence, +1 troop morale)

    Here's a few I've thought of, they're pretty basic, so they'll probably already be in there.

    Crusader/Jihadist (+1 moral and command when fighting Christian factions opposite for easterners.)
    Feudal Lord (+1 to Farming output -(*) to happiness)

    Crusader and Jihadist are both included as traits. Regarding Feudal Lord, it's quite a good idea. We should think about the effects... perhaps adding -X unrest points, or something simmilar...

    Leprous (maybe rather trait)- decrease movment points, hit points and chance of having children
    Templar/Hospitaler(santiago) knight - + comand against muslim fractions
    Local lord- + management when he is present in his region
    Hermit - +influence
    Cross banner + comand against moslims - comand against Christians

    Here are my comments:

    1) We already have a "Wounded" trait and, although it's not related to illness (the character increases his "wounded" points when being wounded in combat), it has very similar effects to the ones suggested by you.
    2 and 5) They are already included, with simmilar effects.
    3) I like more the one suggested by NikolaTesla: Feudal Lord. In fact, they seem to be almost the same
    4) This one looks like a good ancillary. I'd change the effect, perhaps something related to happyness.

    I'm sorry we've been away, I'm having a busy month, as well as LOTKs. I'll try to finish with this thing as soon as possible and then we'll try to post a preview.
