I'm playing as The Gallaeci and before that i played as The Cimbri. I havn't seen siege weaponry available for either. Are siege weapons not available at all for Barbarians or am i missing something?

Why should they be? They lacked the technical know-how to build and maintain such machines, not to mention the logistics to ensure their continued effectiveness in the field.

How hard can it possibly be to make a crude catapult? I mean it doesnt have to shoot rockets or be as strong as civlized siege engines.Besides they can build siege towers because of engine limitations so why not give em catapults. Not to mention the possiblity of capturing a military engineer.
Because historically, they didn't use them during our time period.

the barbarians had a different type of thinking, name it spartan, they believed in hand to hand fighting... they mainly used ambushes and hid in the forests and used missile weapons against the so called civilized nations, because the mobility of their armies on the battlefield allowed them to do this but when fighting among each other they would fight directly (see the see the daco-celtic war).
Also, they didn't have the technology to make them? Also, north and eastern Europe is cold and damp, which is not exactly conducive to the development of such weapons.

I was at a city once in Germany that had Roman ruins. Trier? There were roman walls. It was recorded that the tribes came over the walls three times and slew the inhabitants in its Roman History. Then the Romans eventually pulled back. I did notice the 'over the walls' part in the tour guides speech. I do not know if the game has merc artillery anywhere, but history seem sto indicate that unless they could surprise and quickly over-run the garrison the Northern European Warriors would bypass the city for easier targets. SO rams and ladders seems to fit well here.
I'd be wary of what some tour guides tell you as a little knowledge (on your part) is dangerous. I was on a tour of Gallipoli and the tour guide (an English teacher at the local school) claimed that the lessons learnt (1915) were used during the D-Day landings (1944)......
I asked them "surely the landings at Dieppe had more influence" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieppe_Raid) they didn't answer......

The Barbarians DO get siege weapons, but only in their highest barracks, and ONLY in areas where they were constructed by other cultures. The Parthians, also, almost never used them, but will get them in certain places. This is to simulate or 'postulate' that if a faction captures a region where war machines are made, they 'may' entice\force the inhabitants to build and man them for them. We did not feel that these cultures should have them by 'rights' for a gamey purpose, but the idea of 'capturing' and using the technology is at least plausible.

Barbarians are too cool for school.
Also siege weapons.
Thanks dvk901! Thats kind of what i was thinking too. I know they may not have been able to build them and it wouldn't be realistic to have loads of Belgai and Averni going at it with onagers but if a barbarian nation, say the Gallaecci perhaps, were to conquer north Africa and rule Eqypt, surely they would employ the local know-how to strengthen their empire... Thats seems to be just what RSII has done! Awesome game.
I havn't conquered north Africa btw, its just a dream at the moment...
