    Hertzog Von Saxony

The Hertzog Von Saxony is Located within the Northernmost reaches of what was once the Holy Roman Empire. The people of the Duchy of Saxony are really a composition of two diverse peoples in terms of economy, but both are united in their strong and loyal roots of a common language and history. Northern Saxony is home to one of the Baltic's largest ports, this is located in the capitol city of Lubeck, which brings its people the lucrative trade opportunity's of the Hanseatic League. Because of this, Lubeck is the "backbone" of the Saxon economy. It is also here that a new social class is emerging. A group of people who are driven by desire to aqquire wealth regardless of their humble origins. This is the beginnings of the middle class in Germany. In the south, predominates the many rural farming community's which are distinctly Saxon. Agriculture has always been a very important economic factor in Southern Saxony. Wheat, potatoes, rye, and oats as well as beef, pork and poultry are some of the staples of these farm community's agricultural products. The south and southwest of Lower Saxony are mainly made up of coarse sandy soil that makes crop farming difficult and therefore grassland and cattle farming are more prevalent in those areas. These hardy people live hand to mouth, living by the belief in "a hard days work! is the highest pride of those loyal to the vaterland!", and have a distrust for the Northerners from Lubeck who seem to be enthralled by a "trance" induced by the sophistication of the mercantilism and "cosmopolitan" lifestyle enjoyed in the north. If Saxony is to thrive in this environment it will take a firm and determined monarch to establish the unification of these two peoples and "meter" a merging & joint Cultural identity which reflects the ideals of both north & south, which "runs deeper" than a common fealty to ancestry.

    Le Comte` DE Brabant`

The Comte` of Brabant is and has an interesting reputation as being a “Gemini” of the truest form, it has in previous eras declared sovereign loyalty to either the Kaiser or Dauphin` such declarations of fealty always run there course as soon as the political climate changes with offerings of opportunity for the Comte’s interests happen to arise in other areas. The Comte` is of great concern for both the Dauphin` and the Kaiser. If the Dauphin` is to establish a strong French monarchy having the Support and political allegiance of Le Comte` Brabant will prove crucial! And geographically, the territories of the Brabant occupy regions of Northern Europe the Kaiser would desire to have as part of the imperial conglomerate if Saxony is bent on northern European Dominance and supremacy! & the re-unification of the hre. Le Comte` Brabant traditionally French in its origins has an influential and large German population which will always be loyal to the “fatherland”

    Le` Comte De Dauphinous`

The Dauphin is "formerly" regarded throughout Europe as the king of all France but this is not the case of fact, for almost every region of the great "pays de France" is governed and owe its first loyalty to the local nexus of power which when on good terms with the Dauphin can choose to adhere to his edicts and designs or if they are not, will do as they will. The Dauphin holds claim to the Royal French crown and has legal authority and dominion throughout the land but the true influence supposedly wielded by the noble lineage of rightful rule, has proven impotent in establishing a strong French Monarchy and preventing the smaller houses of Aquittainne` and Burgun` from allying with England bringing greater threat to the goal of attaining a cohesive and sovereign France.

    Mali

Wagadou, better known as the Ghana Empire ideally placed to control trans-Saharic trade from the Middle East to West Africa . With war with the Caliphate of Tangiers and Sultanate of Tunisia not being a pressing concern and the Wagadou empire all but collapsed it is time for the Mandinka people to take their rightfull place at the head of a new empire , a Mali Empire , not just of Mandinka but all the peoples and kingdoms of the Sahel. With the southern borders secure, Mali shall have control of the once secret Ghanan gold mines , maybe now the fight must be taken to the Caliphate of Tangiers , it is only a matter of time before the Caliphate of Tangiers renew their wars for North African dominance despite their current preoccupation in Iberia..

    Normans
England, is actually not a truly unified Kingdom. For there is the Duchy of Cornwall in the south, Wales in the western center of Britain and ever independent Scotland to the north. Then are the Normans who are the inheritors of William the Conquerors triumphs in his campaign into England in 1066. Originating in Normandy France he established a firm presence and Dominance of England by the Normans. Now it can be argued for all intents and purposes the Normans are seen as the Rightful and legal authority in England. In terms of all issues of foreign dealings with England; the Normans are the formal arbiter but in terms of local and domestic control their true influence and control only really pertains to the South and mid-east respectively of England.

    Venetia

Venice is a City which can boast in its history as being the home of origin as well as a pleasurable place of great interest for relaxation and recreation for many a Roman emperor. The city itself is a cornucopia of surreal delights of both mind and spirit! Whether you are basking in the moonlight in a most pleasant gondola ride along the cities many canals or engaging in intense political discourse in one of the cities elite forums, There is something for everyone in Venice. Venice has attained great prestige among all the kingdoms in Europe for its sophisticated legal infra-structure in fact, even though it may not have any Authority outside of “Veneto” but royalty from all over Europe come to have matters of dispute arbitrated by Venetian lawyers in Venetian courts. Even though Genova remains dominant in the Mediterranean sea trade Venice still retains complete control over trade with all of Eastern Europe Poland, Hungary, Russia and the Byzantine empire as well as being the “clearing” house for any and all land trade entering or leaving Europe headed for the “famed” silk road.

    the Vatican Offices

Formally established in 752, the Vatican has been the untouchable domain of the church for centuries. Commanding respect among catholic leaders and fear among heathen ones, the Pontiff holds great powers of diplomacy throughout Europe and thus has a strategic advantage over any potential enemies - any monarch who would show enough disrespect to get himself excommunicated will find thier territories fair game for there neighbors. Should the Holy Father not be satisfied with his flock's efforts to root out heresy, he can take things into his own hands - having wealthy Italian militias and some of the most elite armored guard in the world at his disposal. He can also rely on the many fervent Christian warriors from all over the world to aid his cause. On the downside, the Pontificate as a state lacks any real royal family - the pope can't marry. While this is somewhat hindering in making close relations with other nations, the Holy Throne is more than capable of holding itsown when alone, and even carry the fight to the enemy if God wills it.

    Florentia

Florence is but one of the enclaves of the superior and sophisticated works of art, culture and science which flourishes out of Italy for the benefit of all Europe. Florence with all its cultural appeal has positioned itself also as being a “worthy contender” in the Northern Italian hegemony in transcribing the economic trends throughout Europe! No longer will Genova or Venice simply be concerned with the other but now must also take the vigorous and thriving City of Florence into their measures. Florence is truly blessed not only is it one of the most prestigious cities in Southern Europe but the countryside of the “Tuscany” region can compete in richness of resources and opulence of beauty with any of the highly noted regions of lore found in Europe.

    the Duchy of Cornwall

The people of Cornwall represent and are some of oldest populations from before Caesar first set his eyes on the British isles. If you want a taste of old and ancient customs of the native British than meander through a Cornish town, The Cornish have had a long history of being self sustaining, self inclusive and independent , from the dominant rulers of England, even though they now fall under the dominance of the English crown ( the Normans) though to say this is only in terms of political affiliation, the Cornish still preserve the culture that makes them unique and a true people of the “isles“. Cornwall has always been a great source of tin, its coastal areas have been conducting trade with far away lands and cultures since even before the Roman Empire landed in Britain. They may be under English control, politically but Cornwall lays in an excellent position, should the Cornish feel that it is time for complete autonomy from England and sovereign ruler ship over southern Britain. Cornwall may very well be able to succeed... Of course that does mean taking on the English giant to the east and could lead to greater conflict as the war for dominance of Britain sees the entry of new and aspiring players such Wales and Scotland.

    Hertzog Von Bohemia

Although the Hertzog Von Bohemia is a Germanic power and enjoys the political benefits of being the political advocate and representative of the Eastern lands of Germany, the region of Bohemia itself has a vast population of Czechs who see their nation as České království (Kingdom of Czechs) and do not see themselves as citizens of the empire, but rather as an oppressed minority. German authority's should take control of this potentially and socially Disastrous rift before it gets out of hand. Bohemians are very proud (Both German and Czech) and put a large value on education. The Bohemian capitol of Prague is home to eastern Europe's first University. It is here that the future leaders and thinkers of Bohemia will be developed. Laying across the rolling hills and vast forest of rural Bohemia, is a rather picturesque landscape in the network of small towns, whose people benefit from sheep herding, and bringing excess wool to Prague, to be traded. It is tremendously important that who ever is ruling Bohemia retains control of the mountain passes into Lombardy. These are not only valuable trade ways, but could also possibly be routes of invasion from potential enemies of Bohemia in its powerful Neighbors to the south.

    Repubblica di Genova

The republic of Genova has a proud history as it has always been the "last" "outpost" of civilized Italy before entering unto Northern Europe proper. Its people can claim to be citizens of one the wealthiest nations in all of Europe. The city makes use of its large ports to bring in a wealth of goods and resources from every corner and extent of the vast Mediterranean . Genova often makes trade agreements & alliances with non Christian nations to secure exclusive rights to their trade with Europe (thus monopolizing the distribution of the more exotic and rare wares available), a policy that has long put it at odds with Europe's other mercantile giant, the Repubblica di Venetia. However the Genovese citizens enjoy a rather a high quality of lifestyle which is peaceful & relaxed , especially when compared to their Northern European neighbors. Most Genovese citizens are members of a guild which acts as a representative for them in the government. This ensures that the growing government does not squander in its ad vocation of the people. Genova is a clear example of a healthy co-dependency between the common people and the political elite in a truly republic and democratic System of government.

    Hey guys,

quite nice so far. Again I don't want to be a history nazi just a couple of points:

    1. Herzog is written like that as apparently you want to go for the german spelling. Since this actually means Duke I reckon it's wrong as you probably want it to be Duchy which would be Herzogtum for Both Saxony and Bohemia.

    2. Bohemia was, even when part of the Holy Roman Empire, a kingdom which means it should be either king of Bohemia or rather König von Böhmen. The German word for Bohemia is Böhmen. Even when Bohemia was part of the electorates of the German king it was always the king of Bohemia who was named.

    3. Don't know exactly where you get your infos about geography from. Since Henry the lion Saxony did not have a northern part.

This is a map of the Saxon lands in 1485. There were two Saxon Duchies from 1296 onwards one was to the north. The importance of that region was lost already at the end of the 1300's because of a huge decrease in size and because the electoral rights where transferred to Sachsen-Wittenberg which is roughly what would be considered Sachsen and Thüringen today. I guess your trying to recreate the old lands of Henry the lion but than you might wanna considere moving your timeframe a bit. If you go for the fantasy argument than maybe change the names at least and take Lübeck out of it as it was never part of Saxon lands. Other than that, if you need help with spelling, naming places, people etc. or just with general history give me a shout I'm happy to help.

    Le Duche` D`Aquitaine

Aquitaine although it is the southernmost region in France is an Independent political body from the French crown. the duchy enjoys good favor and strong relations with England as it defies the authority of Le Dauphin` in the north of "Le Pays De France".
Aquitaine is synonymous with new & Bourgeois affluence! as it`s grape farms become a strong competitor to the traditional wineries of the Italian Tuscan Vineyards to supplying the "vino" of Europe! Also it has almost completely monopolized this trade with England.
Aquitaine also enjoys being a trading center for the Commerce of the Navarre` with rest of Northern Europe, the Common Life in in Aquitaine is Serene and idyllic an example of feudal serenity and happiness, Aquitaine shines as a true French & feudal community
despite whatever dark clouds prevail in its future because of its position of value in the Conflict between the Normans & Le Dauphin` its vitality & importance is more a concern of Overall European sensitivity rather than the conflict it has become a vital point of contention in.

    Comté de Bourgogne

Burgundy is situated in a rather precarious position, as it is located between both of Europe's soon to be superpowers which represent two of its most politically challenging and potentially impactful political designs, the Attempts to re-unify Germany under the banner of the Holy Roman empire, and the Dauphin`s plan to establish a firm French monarchy (the lands of Burgundy are vital to both ventures). However Burgundies people can best be described as French in custom. Burgundy is home to some of Europe's finest wines, and highest quality cattle & livestock. However the Burgundian economy is still very feudal, were the rich live in extreme opulence with these positions of grandeur inherited by birth, while the poor are relegated to a life of hardship delegated by lineage of their poor ancestry. Like in all the French realms, Burgundy is often the stage of much political infighting between nobles. Although Burgundy is home to such Romanesque masterpieces as the Vézelay, Fontenay and Cluny, which lend credence to the fact that Burgundy now and has always been a wealthy nation. Nothing in Burgundy represents the elegant history of the land better while at the same time displaying the struggle of the Burgundian people to remain independent as the old chateu Dijon which is a microcosm for the rest of the nation. Burgundy boasts a rich and elaborate past and promising future, but to get there it will need the effort of all members of society (rich or poor) beyond the Class-based feudal social order which it has traditionally seen fit to be governed by.

The people of Navarre` are unique contrasted with the other christian kingdoms of Iberia. In fact the Navarre are not Spanish at all ( despite common misconceptions), but rather basque. The Basque language is an ancient one that dates back hundreds of years before the first Roman ever set foot in Iberia. The Navarre often find themselves at odds with the rest of western society and what is "supposed" to be "civilized" cultural norms of conduct. a large part of this is because of the fact that woman often hold higher titles and positions of stature in society than men, often times inheritance will go to the oldest female. Another unique aspect to the Navarrese cultural identity, is even though they adopted western feudalism they still hold traditions alien to the tenets of the majority of others European societies who embrace feudalism. often they gather at a town hall to elect a Representative to the junta, also in Navarrese culture farmers own much of the land possessions they tend rather than the clergy. This does put them at odds with their Iberian neighbors, as well as the French. The navarre are just as modern as their neighbors but with a distinctly Basque flair that makes them unique. The Navarre benefit from the rich veins of iron to be found in the hills of the Pyrenees and advanced agriculture which provides its people with Wine,Grapes,Wheat, and even olives also the Navarre are further more in a position of bountiful sustenance with the thriving fishing culture on the banks of the western shores of its domain. The people of Navarre` also are located in a strategically beneficial position as they are far away from the Muslim raiders from the south, and Islamic forces bent on reconquering Iberia and protected by the Pyrenees from the opportunistic southern French to their North. The issue which presses the political and economic concerns of the Navarre the greatest is the relationship it maintains with its other Pyrenees neighbor "Corona De Aragon`"
