Campaign Map CTD when scrolling around

I seem to get a campaign map 'drag' CTD now and again playing ETW.

Ill be zoomed out and scrolling around the map and different regions to enjoy the sights and at first it gets a bit laggy and when im dragging the screen across the map it seems to lag behind a bit and then a CTD follows. I can also hear my PC actually stress under it when it happens, as just gets louder if you get me. I can seem to handle big battles but not viewing the map
It would seem I could avoid viewing the maps much but it has to be done now and again and is very vexing problem. Doesnt happen every time but has few times now.

Im using ETW with darthmod 6.2.

Specs: Core2duo E8500, HD4870, 3GB Ram, Win7 32bit.

Im not sure if its something that can be avoided or if its just matter of GPU drivers.

Map scrolling, especially zoomed in, and the lag with it has been around since RTW. The noise you hear is your computer trying generate all the 3d graphics you are srolling over. The way the game's engine is not optimized, there maybe very few computers that won't.

The best way to try to avoid it is don't zoom in unless it's something of interest. The rest is how much eyecandy you have and the performance level you expect.

(the fact I always hit ctrl+S before I start scrolling all over shoulda told me to stop )
