The UAC is worse then my auntie - but at least now she admits that I am old enough to know what I am doing.
You can blame the UAC on the nonthinkers suing Microsoft instead of being responsible for their own actions.
Probably but the only trace nitroglycerin bottle leaves is a hole in the ground.
thnx! this helped me with other modded games also!
great job, never knew it was that simple, i should kiss you, but i dont wanna loose my balls here
I just tried to disable the UCA, that worked but steam still managed to regenerate the map.rwm file! Annoying!
It will regenerate it. The game needs it. The disc version will regenerate it. It's been this way since Rome: Total War 1.0 3-cd version.
I checked all accessboxes for users at medieval AND stainless steel properties, he (my windows 7 labtop) still gives the same error as before i tried this
both vanilla MTW and SS 6.3 worked like a charm.
i have steam, altough i want to get rid of these a-holes.
Is steam that interfears ?
And if yes how can i kick them off my computer.
They say my account is de-activated and i cannot re-activate.
But still they are interfearing everywhere like America in the good old days (irony...)

no i bought them before i had steam.
When i got EMPIRE i got this unwanted nosy steam with it
I don't know if steam is causing your solution not to work with my computer.
It's just my hunch.
Anyway thanx for this quick reply, i was not expecting
Since i don't play empire anymore, but still SS and other mods this steam is a real meance and i cannot seem to get rid of it
Steam has nothing to do with this.I have Steam because of Empire but still have the old dvds for Medieval2 and Kingdoms. Steam could care less.
This will remedy most of it. If not, I have the rest. Try this first.
..uninstalling a mod and then reinstalling it,do i have to repeat the auc thing ?

No if it's already taken care of then you don't have to redo the UAC thing.
If i never have any problem with my third age campaign on windows 7, will i still need to do this? Will i have problems in the future if I don't do anything with my windows 7 when playing med2 tw?
If you don't have any problems, then don't change anything. Only do this tutorial if a new mod is supposed to work, but keeps crashing on your computer.
Btw, TATW doesn't cause this problem because it has an .exe installer (as does my mod). What good .exe installers do is make all the permissions fixes for you, so that when you install them, that particular mod acquires compete read/write permissions, and the UAC never enters into the picture.
sig
unfortunately that isn't always true..
i have win 7 and been using TA ..my TA saves ,preferences ,packs folders were in virtual store...since i uninstalled everything (mods, kingdoms ,med2 ) and reinstalled following fix# 3 ,
-right after installing the game
-and before ever launching it (so that the fix applied before and not afterwards)
-and then installed TA and other mods...
my life and mental health seriously improved
i think everyone with vista and win 7 should follow this great tutorial
"Mods MUST be placed on the same drive on which MTW2 is installed!
Move the mod folder to the D drive in order for the mod to work"
After reinstalling the mod over about 4 times i still get the same message.I just got my Windows 7 about a month ago so I'm not sure how to use it really.I installed the mod where I've always done so " Computer>OS ( C: )>Program Files> SEGA>Medieval II Total War>mods ".The Message comes up every time i click to run the launcher. Is there something I might be doing wrong or something i can do to fix it? thanks.

The mod looks for the .exe hance Medieval II Total War folder and has to be in this folder for the medieval2.exe or kingdoms.exe to find it. Anyplace outside it will never happen. The hardcode is not written that way.
Move your work out, do the modifying, move it back to test it.
Sorry for not explaining myself a bit better, but i'm no modder. The mod i'm trying to play is SS 6.3.
Have you disabled the UAC assuming Vists http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...trol-on-or-off or 7 http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to...-in-windows-7/ ?
