Denver took a swig of the brandy.

The King laughed lightheartedly.

Throw you to a mob? Of course not, I am a benevolent King, I love all of my subjects, even the naughty ones. Prison perhaps, but never a mob!

The King continued his laughing.

It's too bad you aren't on my side Mr. Denver, I do love your personality. I'll be sure to place you somewhere where there are less rats, those things can be so annoying, biting you all night while you're trying to sleep. Not that I would know, actually... John trailed off, looking into the distance, almost reminiscent.

He zoomed back into the situation around him with a start, looking a bit disheveled, he continued...

Very clever of you, but I believe, if I do remember correctly, that I fought for representation, and lower taxes, not against monarchy itself. His final sentence was said in complete seriousness, without a drop of sarcasm. If Denver had looked back, he may have perhaps spotted a look of sorrow on the King's face. John drifted back into his thoughts, absent from the world.
