For those of you who have heard about blink 182 splitting up then you may have also heard of Tom Delonge's new band 'Angels and Airwaves'. This is basically his attempt of making a new era of music.

The following website gives a preview of his new band and the movie that he is also making it.

I bought the album and i thought it sucked, everything seems so fake like, special effects and thats it. At least the album cover looks cool lol :tooth:

    Good lord no.

And I agree with gogoas on the issue of fakeness. Their material is a collaboration of music producers having them play what youth will eat right up.
    "
    Hey ohhh, here I am
And here we go, lifes waiting to begin, tonight"

What teenager with shallow music interest can resist?

Oh, and did I mention? The band has their own ****ing shoes. Shoes...Just shows how much of a marketing ploy this band is.

Well, in terms of them trying to be like pink floyd and make there music an "Expierence" they failed somewhat. The lyrics arent revoloutionary, and there are a ton of studio effects...not that thats bad. Tom has gotten over his childy whiny singing, which is also good.

I saw them, Taking back sunday, the subways, and head automatica up at Naseau Collisieum. It was an amazing show. They sound ok on the album, but live, its amazing. It might just be cause it was the first real concert I've been to--i've gone to a bunch of small venues to see some local bands--but IMO, it was a great show. On one song, I forget which one, they turned off all the stage lights, tom snuck off the stage, and then came out of the second floor stands in the back, talknig/singing his way through the crowd back up the stage. Blew me away. Tom's quite the showman, and on stage hes very inspirational, he talks alot in between songs about following your dreams etc. all the cliches, but its still pretty cool.

TBS was great too... a guy in a spiderman costum got up and danced on stage for awhile

PS they can still pull off most of the "fake" effects live
and, most music teens listen too, me included , is rather shallow. Most rock bands (most) comming out now sound very simmilar to eachother, and rap isn't very thought provoknig either.

I'll agree that ya i guess some of the songs are about stuff that kids can relate to, afterall its pretty obvious that the only strength of this labum is the lyrics. Then again, there are only like a million songs that have been written about the same thing angels and airwaves sing about. To sum it up its, guy likes girl, guy likes this girl that he shouldn't like, being sad, etc.

Personally I think they're terrible. Can't stand the lyrics. They're slightly better than Blinks, and thats not saying much at all. DeLonge's voice is frankly annoying (really, back in the Blink days, Mark was the underated singer), but now they havnt got him to fall back on. I can tell that the band are trying to be some kind of philosophical mega-band, but in all honesty they fall completely on their face. The two singles so far have come with some of the most lacklustre video's I've ever seen. They're trying to be pretencious, and new, but really, we've seen it all done before with some talent in many other bands. The only reason they're getting airplay in my opinion is because of the legions of Blink fans who cried when they broke up (I'm not joking I know about 4 people who did).

Horrible, negatively pretencious, commercialised, and living off a legacy.

Anyway. I think I've made my point. I don't like this band

Well, when I bought the CD it was with a little excitement and a ton of disapointment. I hate this new 'Serious' Tom that thinks he can change the world with this music. I know alot of people hated Blink, but I absolutly loved Blink for all the reasons that have been forgotten in AVA.

I loved how when Blink was together they were guys who had never grown up and just had fun playing music. It seems like all that has just been thrown out the window judging from Tom's little speeches about how he wants to create a new era of music.

The music is decent. One of the best signs of a great album is that one has to listen to it a lot for one to really enjoy it. I don't think this applies here. I was bored after a week of the CD. Most of the songs don't have the epic feel that Tom said he was going to put into them. Though I must admit the song, "Valkaryie Missile" (#1) is really good. There are some other pretty good ones, but just not 'good' enough. Not better than another Blink CD.

But it's never going to be the same now, and we'll have to look back on the 'good ole days' when Tom and Mark could joke around inbetween songs instead of preaching about life.

It'll be interesting to see if Plus-44 goes in the same direction.

well from what ive heard plus44 still has the same kind of sound of blink, although they say they've been doing weird experiments. I remember them saying something like combining techno with like hip-hop or something.

I dunno I guess angels and airwaves could be enjoyable if you sit around in the dark (thats how tom said you should listen to the album ) I just think its a weak and pretty redundant album.

its an ok song, but im talking about the entire album. Plus it isn't that great if you compare it to, like what tom used to play (is he even playing anything in this song?).

Basically, by having good musical taste.

Angels and Airwaves sucks quite a lot, just like blink 182 did.

Plus44 seem fairly good actually. I'm liking the use of electronica. Angels and Airwaves are just poor in my opinion.
