    Default Favourite Genre?

What is your favorite genre in books?

    Fantasy? Nonfiction? Romance?

My favorite genres are Historical Fiction and historical nonfiction (if I like what its about)

I read a lot of books that I don't even know which genre they are in....

I like historical 'fiction' too. Other then that I like all genres, except for (too) harsh realistic books or futuristic/science fiction thingies.

I like them too, though most of the time, when I pick a random fantasy book out of a shelve in the library I get a déjà-vu: everything seems somewhat borrowed from LotR (probably it's inverse).

Can you recommend me some writers?

    History Non-Fiction is my fav.

Book about real people and places are as fantastic as any non-fiction, IMHO.

Ya, I see alot of that same as LotR. My favorite series I have come across on my dragon thing is the Dragonlance series by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne Mccaffrey. Those were both excellent.

Another type of books I have enjoyed is the type of stuff Dan Brown does. Based on real life and make up a story. His book Deception Point was fantastic.

Reality based fiction is usually my favorite, or historical fiction I guess.

Fantasy is generally by far my least favorite.

Classical fiction, mostly things from the 19th century (European) and early 20th century. My reading of these books came about when I realised that that the realm of good fiction doesn't end at Philip Kerr.

A mix of historical fiction and non-fiction for me, but I also really like books written by ex-soldiers about their experiences- I guess they are more like biographies than anything, my favorites being the books written by the squad of Bravo-Two-Zero (particuarly Coburns), and one of my all time favorites is "Company of Heroes" by Mike Durant, who was shot down and captured in Somalia...it's an awe inspiring read to say the least.

Historical Fiction and Fantasy, like Fabolous, I have a thing for dragons and the like, but I am sooooo totally in love with Terry Pratchett books, me and him seem to have the exact same sense of humour.

Eek Terry Pratchett. Not a fan. I hate the way he skips from place to place every other page...you just cant focus on the story properly in my opinion. I dunno, maybe it's too complex for my tiny brain . Nah I'm not a fantasy fan really, although I am a massive LOTR fan ... which kinda throws my argument on it's head.

Indeed, LotR is the most complicated story to read...ever.
