Maybe more like Section 31 from Star Trek DS9. SPECTRE was a criminal enterprise/terrorist organization. Section 31 on the other hand sought to protected the Federation with extreme measures ranging from assassination of foreign political figures to full blown genocide.

I'm hoping that we get to meet more than one reaper at once in ME3 (Sovereign in 1 and Harbinger in 2). The voiceovers were really boss for Sovereign.

No I wouldn't like a reaper squadmate. I think it would ruin the feel and reapers are HUGE machines they could take out any threat with ease so there would be no need to even play. I do want to meet more than one like Legio said in ME3.

I think reapers are really boss; especially because of their Lovecraftian origins. Perhaps we will travel to the reaper base?

My understanding was they didn't have a base since Sovereign said each reaper was like it's own nation.

He meant that because each reaper was constructed from a nation (like the human reaper, failed prothean reaper, etc.). At least from my interpretation. But in deep space they must have a gathering point where they chill for millenia.

To expand on my last post, a Reaper squadmate would make a very interesting romance option. Bridging the gap between human emotions and raw AI calculations. Probably a very nice message about love emerges from it, how it is both pleasing and a necessary function.

Imagine the sex scene, too.

Well if Sovereign was able to learn about Shepard and hold her to the same level of esteem which Harbinger holds her, perhaps it would have been possible. Enemies often make good lovers.

You can love the ship for its personality, but when it comes down to sex, I'm sure there can be a scenario where the reaper is assuming direct control.

Btt, I don't think having a Reaper squadmate would be a very good idea. They have been made out to be the absolute threat throughout the series - throwing that away for a twist that suddenly says "Yay! They just want to protect you from even worse enemies by destroying you!" or "Not all of them are bad!" would be pretty awful and anti-climactic.

I'm guessing all this talk about a Reaper squad mate is a joke. However, in the newest book Cerberus is installing Reaper technology into one of it's operatives... so who knows wtf will come out of it. Didn't read ze book.
