Default LT re: Sig1 & fort paths

I don't have a personal relationship with any designers, sorry, but I will write to Sig to beg his help with real hopefullness.

I would imagine too that the Barbarian forts would be far better as fortifed circled wagons or somesuch as opposed to gated barracks complete with arrow towers, lol. CA made the most complete & brilliant game to date but in a few cases - the forts, definitely - it took some unreasonable liberties which are shamelessly exploitable for players. Is it possable to set up a "petition" of sorts to inspire Sig?

Here is the Roman Fort adjusted Again. It also seems to work wonderfully! No Pathfinding issues except the normanl CA junk. And the AI doesnt run through walls etc. The Mound helps archers behind the wall to have Higher elevation or more important the slingers. The ditch is neat and all of it works well.

I am now working on the other factions which is a pain since there are only 2 more forts sicne they share the for the other factions really stupid on CA's part IMO. I dont know if there is a file to specify which fort to use, If I recall its hardcoded?

    Anyway here is a picture.

I say thats the most realistic thing I have seen so far. I't actually loks like a real roman camp. Sweet!!!!!!

I was always under the impression that these were supposed to be forts, not the marching camps.

Well the above can be both. For romans without a marching camp is unthinkable. lol Infact it looks like CA was going to have 3 different types. Too bad so much lost.

The above can be both a Fort for a garrison or a Marching Camp, but It most likely is closer to a Fort than Marching Camp. Price can be adjusted Either way. I do know this Forts are NOW VERY effective! The towers with ditch/mound make a difference. Its bloody to take them. ;-) I am stuck on the Eastern Forts as I think they should be Stone, but the only way to do stone ones is to have a wooden palisade around them. lol Kinda neat really and very deadly. But I can make Doors for the walls as they have to be inserted as a building Rather than a Wall.

Barbarian Greek Fort. they share the same fort. :-(

Something I am toying with for the EASTERN, Egyptian, Carthage Fort. Not sure as the Walls are classed as Buildings and cannot shoot arrows or have gates, therefore the reason for the wooden wall around it. The only other option is to have something similar to the Roman fort.

    Anyway, Opinions are welcome.

But that would mean taking a settlement with those stone walls. Ditch the stone walls and concentrate on having two layers of defence for a settlement. And releasing 5.0 as bittorent!

I just got a great idea: Would it be possible to allow troops to build forts just outside enemy cities?

The eastern fort looks deadly. Tis a shame the towers can't shoot, but put a few units of archers and you have one hell of a battle.. Don't too much care for the barb/greek one... It looks fine for a barb fort, but as a greek it severely lacks a certain 'greek' quality.

No alot of those things are hardcoded.

On double defenses it doesnt work that way only one wall is allowed, the other inner wall of stone is classified as a building and therefore has No arrows from the gate or tower, and No doors. lol So it should be hard to take as the gates can be used as choke points only. Plus you can batter down the walls.

is there any way on the roman forts to put borders around gorups of tents without 3ds max? My theory is that the units wouldn't try to walk around and through all the tents.

looking pretty cool so far though!

Doesn't matter, secondary choke points would limit the speed at which invaders could enter - thus making it harder!

I agree on all of them except the eastern one.
