Why would you want a more complete World Map on ETW?

What would make having a complete world map with all lands accessible completely awesome to you?

For me, having Brazil would make Portugal a much more fun faction to play and much more historically accurate.

Also, and most important, China... I want to launch epic land campaigns in China.

it was the reason I wanted to buy empire beside brazil portugal had many colonies in south africa east africa india and far east of asia.


china in the other hand would make a great theater for the opium war. england would probably had a port in hong kong.

I want to colonise the most exotic and remote places on the map, like Africa, Malaya, China, Australia. Unfortunately, these arent on the ETW map. Holding the Carribean islands and India isnt exiting enough.

It would alos greatly deepen gameplay.

And for the huge diversity it would give ETW in different factions, units, landscapes (battles)...

I wonder if in the future, After they stop making money off of empire, if they will release modding tools. I know that some games do that.

To get what we want. The entire world and a huge game with more factions we need the game to go truly multiplayer on the net. And i mean campaign multiplayer with servers running a world with a human player in control of every province. The game developers need an income from the game to justify the effort to expand it to cover the whole world. The money they get from sales of the game do not cover that effort. So they need the game to go online and have fee-paying subscribers regularly paying for it.

Currently their focus is on producing the Next game to get more income. Instead of developing and expanding this game.

I don´t want a world map - the area featured is enough imho. But more provinces are needed. Some very important ones are left out in the game - even few can make a huge variety in gameplay:

Catalonia in Spain - in the succession war it remained loyal to Habsburg while Castilia (and Madrid) supported Philipp V./France.
Schleswig-Holstein as a Danish protectorate,
Switzerland as own faction,
Dalmatia as Venetian possession
Western Pommerania as a swedish territory in Germany
California northwest of Mexico.
Chiwa and Buchara to connect Russia and Afghanistan/India in Central Asia.
Not to mention one or two territories for Morocco to expand southwards. Same for Egypt/Ottomans in Sudan/Arabia.

And with all those micromanagement and endless battles in the TW style games it would become unplayable and nobody would finish a campaign spanning a century.

Playing Russia will be a pain in the ass to govern all those useless Siberian provinces and you will be in trouble when the China AI, Central Asian nations' AI, plus your European enemies all attack you at the same time. It will be long to transfer an army to deal with the Chinese.
I would love to play as the Chinese and other exotic factions (Zulu, Annam, Japan, Maori). I hope CA allow us to mod the campaign map to make dream come true.

Yeah this would be cool + other few:
Brittany for France.
Galicia and Podolia separated.
Novgorod for Russia.
Canarian Islands for Spain, very good base to Ivory Coast.
Wallachia as province.

my fear is that the new campaign map will restrict some mod pack or all. anyone knows if it is a serious issue. can this happen ?

Why? To loose 80 % or more of your troops to dysentery, malaria or cholera?

Paradox games will often let you play as ANY nation and have all the regions, but seriously, what % of the gamers will really devote time to playing a tribe of Eskimos? What they are doing is concentrating on specific areas. China would have been nice, but I'm still happy with the world as it is in ETW. People always want the option for everything, but would you rather they spent even less time on the game fixes to chase after adding some remote regions?

Honestly unless they made it so the grand campaign was in real time instead of turn based it wouldn't be a good idea. They would need lots of different factions to flesh out those new areas of the map and this would make the already long turn times in empire take even longer.

I agree with you on that. The only thing I would really like is that all the areas on the map be conquerable. Its annoying being able to walk through land you can't take over and a little more annoying to just see so much grayed out on the map. I'd rather everything you see be conquerable rather than a full world map
