Thread: User developed LME Submods

  1. #1

    Default User developed LME Submods

This thread is for those LME players that would like to materialize their own ideas regarding LME gameplay and contribute their work here in this forum.

Two simple rules for anyone who would like to give it a go:

    1. You are free to use the LME files as a basis for your submod work but you are only allowed to include the files you have changed and the few other necessary files from LME mod packages to ensure compatibility. You are not allowed to release a submod that is a mere copy of the LME mod packages.
    2. Configuration control is your own responsibility meaning that the LME team is not responsible for maintaining compatibility with the LME submod on the contrary you have the responsibility to ensure the LME submod is compatible with the latest LME release. A hint would be to develop your submod in a modular fashion and with several iterations.
With that said please go ahead and post your work in this thread

    Best regards
    iutland

    ♔Pdguru♔'s French Colonne d'attaque / Beta 3.0
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    FRENCH COLONNE D'ATTAQUE
    BETA 3.0

Inspired by a feature of the latest release of TROM2, I have had a shot at creating a special unit which represents the French attack column for LME. My aim is to create a unit that provides a way to punch a hole and disorder an enemy line in just the way the French did it, and to visually represent a column as an awesome sight...

The attachments adds the unit with its own icon. I also include a loc text file for the 1807-13 campaigns.

    1. 360 men strong, 12 ranks deep, high mass value, with more space between lines to increase visual impact
    2. Slightly stronger melee but awesome charge bonus
    3. Slightly higher morale than fusiliers (to simulate bravado recorded by writers of the period)
    4. Only a few rounds of ammo fired en-masse (unit is militia class); the columns will fire a few rounds and charge!
    5. Same uniform (L'aigle) as Fusiliers
    6. Unit inspires friendly units, and causes fear in the enemy
    7. Moves a little faster than standard ligne units
    8. There's a limit of only 10 of these units available for France in campaign

    House Rules/Tips:

    a) Do not change the formation.
    b) Switch off 'Fire at Will'.
    c) Manoeuvre only by wheeling and clicking on required location.
    d) Screen the column with skirmishers or bring it up behind a line.
    e) Charge and Melee - don't wait to fire. You'll take too many casualties. Ammo is only for self defence when required.

    Here are some pictures...

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Columns advancing...

    Cannonballs rent long, wide holes...

    Cannister creates a mess...

    Firing before the charge...

Installation: Place both files in your data folder (replacing the loc. file) and add French_Column_Unit_Release1-1.pack to the top of your user.script.

    Feedback welcomed.

    Artillery-Submod No. 1

Increases the artillery-unit-sizes by 25 - 30%. This mod alters the balance minimal, but it does. This Mod allows you to play LME also with large, medium or small-unitsizes.

Only drop this file into your data-folder. Its a movie-file, so no entry into your user.script is needed.

    Have fun with this mod

I must say, I rather like the music collection you've put together.

The Age of Conan movie music in the sea battles was a particularly pleasant surprise, and oddly suitable.
Therefore, I conclude, that Valve should announce Half Life 2 Episode 3.

    All,

I have added a couple of files that make my mini mod for L'aigles' beautiful French skins work nicely with LME. Feedback welcomed.

LOL!!! Dont' speak too soon - it was very hard and I just hope I got them right! I just updated the file to include info card pictures (generic) for old and young guard horse artillery, so be sure you get the latest one.

You're a god send; when I saw how much better the uniforms in your screenshots were, I decided I must have L'aigle's skins.

Overall, I vastly prefer the 1812 uniforms to the 1805 ones; given that all the Coalition uniforms are late period, it only makes sense.
Therefore, I conclude, that Valve should announce Half Life 2 Episode 3.

Just tried them on my "higher end" (not the laptop) PC today and they look splendid
I would like to include them in the basic LME mod and not as a submod. Who got the IP-rights for the mod and textures you our L'aigle (both?)?

    cheers

L'Aigle designed the textures, so you should ask him.

But from what I hear, he's been away for a few weeks.

Indeed - as per my original post, my mod is just a mini-mod of Laige's full mod (which includes a lot more stuff and also its own db files). TROM has already included the Imperial Guard but I think Yarkis got the OK before L'aigle went away. Until he returns, you might hust have to include it as a my sub-mod but you'd need to make it clear these are L'aigles skins.

Seems like he's not been online since late november. He was waiting for a new PC so maybe that's why he's not back yet.

Anyway, cool to see that L'Aigle's beautiful work is going to be incorporated in LME, thanks to PDGuru who made it available as a minimod, I just can't play the game without them now.
