As I understand it(and it might include some speculation on my part),the Povos and the Valiente are all natives from Ibellica,so we could say they're all "hispanics". As to their cultural differences...this is what the Faction Description says:"For many centuries the lands of the Hispanic tribes were populated by people of many religions."
So good for the religion then, but there's no hint whatsoever about how the Ducado came to be. Were they separated form the start? Were the Valiente converted to Christiandom or did they embrace it of their own will, even before the "purges" ordered by the Inquisition?
ATM,they lack a well defined background, but they're described in a way similar to the Reich,so that would probably mean that they've been around for quite some time...
So,to give my personal interpretation, they may have once shared some kind of bond, but after centuries of isolation, wars, religious differences and technological advancement, they're to be considered completely different peoples. Much like the Faust and the Teutonic Order, who both share Germanic blood and are obviously very different from each other.
I'd agree with you; Daraunon. I'd say that they indeed share common roots, but I view the Valiente as "early modern Spaniards" - christian, explorative, using modern technology, while the Hispanics are more "primitive", pre-christian, pre-explorative peoples, more like native Spaniards or Iberocelts or Gallaecians from the Middle Ages.

"The Romuli Empire is safeguarded by faith, duty and zeal. Through the Caesar's sacrifice, the Constant Empire endures. By the might of its Legions, by the will of its people, by the sacrifice of thousands, the Imperium endures."

First they came for the Pagans,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Pagan.
Then they came for the Muslims,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Muslim.
Then they came for the scholars,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a noble.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

"Every day, we advance deeper into enemy territory, everyday I see more and more atrocities perpetrated not by the Uruks but by our own hands, innocent men, women and children die by our swords in the name of "cleansing". The Centurions, the politicians and the slick-tongued propagandists tell me that we are conquering the beasts of the lands, ridding the world of monsters, I'm inclined to disagree for they are not the devils hordes, we are." - Letter recovered from the body of an unknown Legionnaire after the Battle of the Blood Red Ravine.
Very nice quote and welcome to the forums MrMikey!
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I heard something like this from the "Kingdom of Heaven" or a movie like it.
