Soldiers Singing (In-Battle): Mod Closed

IN-BATTLE MARCHING SONGS

This mod provides the sound of soldiers singing as they advance when you select a unit and make it march in land battles. It doesn't do it for all your units (we don't need a whole choir army, eh?), just one and it'll sing until it stops marching. The recordings suit the sound events in the field, not studio renditions, of course.

These songs are NOT faction specific - the enemy will sing them too... but if you spend most of your time "among" your own troops, you'll be fine.

There are several to choose from BUT you can use ONLY ONE at a time.

1. Le Chant du Depart
2. La Chant de l'oignon (favored assult song of the Old Guard) - which has the sounds of guns in the background so is best used with Grouchymod.
3. Men of Harlech (for Private Normal)
4. La Marseillaise (for Captain Blackadder)
5. Russian Song: Ah, You of Shade, Mine of Shade (for mattebubben - see post #22 below for his in-game example)
6. Ottomans
7. La Victoire a Nous (for Elchnase - no singing, just the band/instruments)
8. La Chant de l'oignon (cleaner version - no battle sounds)

Installation

The mods are in patch format so just place in your data folder.

Well done old boy splendid tunes.. I think I used the Onion somewhere in one of my older mod versions.. very good choice eh what?

You Sir, are an absolute genius, I tips me lid to you, thank you for that, just what the lads needed. I loved the French songs, glorious, shame nobody has figured out out to get them each doing their own songs.

A follow up, I was thinking that maybe your Harlech Marching Song Mod had stopped working, then as I was storming Paris, I heard a distant sound of "Men of Harlech" approaching. It was a Foot Regiment signing lustily. They were the only one's singing that, mind you, the others were Drumming and Fifing and I thought I could hear French music in the Fort, so I thought, maybe, there is some sort of rotating tune system in NTW, that plays different tunes for different groups of soldiers??

I'm not smart enough to work that out, . This little mod just sets the song/music you hear when you select and move a unit. if you move multiple units, only one of them will sing the song, the others will play other files. This is the closest I can make to getting to hear a song 'at-will'. You might try the music gurus like the Brig for more complex solutions - I'm a simple guy .
