The Blue and the Gray - Version 2.0 DOWNLOAD [NO campaign, just for multiplayer battles]
American Civil War : The Blue and the Gray v2.0
News:
This mod is based on the American Civil War, we have tryed to create a realistic feel to
how battles would have been fought, using eyewitness account, civil war historians and reenactors,
we will continue to tweak the combat as time goes on.
At this time due to restrictions with making campaign this is just a land battle mod,
but as time goes on we will be adding naval battles (model importer), maps (learn the tool), and campaign (campaign tools).
However we are working now on a camapign version which is comming along nicely.

Combat Overhaul:
There are several major changes in the combat, units are much larger, muskets have been reworked so the closer
you are the more damage you do. Cavalry have a new role, they are no longer units meant for melee,
their job is to take and hold key points on the battle field until the infantry can arrive.
It is important to note that the number of unit loses you will sustain will be higher quicker than in a normal battle,
this is working as intended and will NOT be changing.
Note: You will require all of the Unit Controls to play this mod properly, including the Increase File and Increase Rank, Move Forward, Move Backward, Rotate Left and Rotate Right.
You will also need Skrimish, Dismount and Hold Fire Buttons.
All Fan Videos that have been made about this mod.
Known Issues:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
-Not all Unit Descriptions have been added.
Version Notes:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
-Version 1.9.0
-Combat should now be slower without being less bloody.
-Units can now fire while moving
-Various Balance fixes to Weapons, mainly artillery
Notice:
We have not tested our mod with other mods, so if you are crashing try removing them first, as time goes on we will try and support as many other mods as possible.
3) Put the mod manager into your data folder and activate the two files (make sure that you don't have "show all pack files" active. Without that, you don't see and can't choose these 2 files):
AmericanCivilWar-Soundsmusic.pack
AmericanCivilWar-Smoke.pack
4) Launch the game using the mod manager!

Answer: Replacing the models is a longterm goal, starting with the soldiers each unit will have a proper visual and historic accurate and delightful appearance.

Answer: Dont we all want to? At this state it is unknown if we can ever make custommade ships, there is no such tool or the insight in how this can be done yet, so we cant promise it.
Originally Posted by Question: Do you make more battlefields like manassas?
Answer: Indeed the goal is to make as many historical battlefields as possible, however the creationprocess is complicated and an average map takes 60+ hours to complete, while you can spend lots of more in making it even better.
Originally Posted by Question: Will you make a standalone campaign for the civilwar?
Answer: Currently it is impossible to make custommade campaigns, or add regions settlements etc. It's unknown if we ever posess the knowledge to achieve this.
Originally Posted by Question: When this mod is used, can you swap back to vanilla without fiddling with the files?
Answer: No, you need to remove the files from your data directory, in the future we might provide an uninstaller as it gets more complex, but for now, just delete the files.

--------------------------- The American Civil War for Total War ------------------------------
is this the mod version with the historical Maps, like Gettysburg etc.?
Version 2.0 is the current version and it has 2 historical maps: manassas and shiloh.
The upcoming version 2.1 dont have historical maps. gettysburg is a new map, but its not a historical map! its a fictional map, some parts in common with gettysburg.

I downloaded everything and activated (at least I think I did... check the box and save right?) the 2 files, and then hit launch but not Empire doesn't work. I unactivated it, I tried running it through steam for vanilla, everything. Stopped working... Can I get help?

Re: The Blue and the Gray - Version 2.0 DOWNLOAD [NO campaign, just for multiplayer battles]
I don't know what i'm doing wrong because ive downloaded those 3 things but the only places i can actually find the smoke and the music files are in the archive of the 2.0 file itself instead of with the modmanager.
Re: The Blue and the Gray - Version 2.0 DOWNLOAD [NO campaign, just for multiplayer battles]
I am having a great amount of difficulty downloading all the files. It is taking over 12 hours and my computer is timing out. Is it possible to zip the files smaller than 271 MB or put them on an FTP site where I can retrieve them? Thanks
Re: The Blue and the Gray - Version 2.0 DOWNLOAD [NO campaign, just for multiplayer battles]
i have a problem to. i can get the game to start and can even add units to a map to play. but once it starts to load it crashes. i was poking around and i mod empire quite a bit and i found that the warscape files (2) in the textures file seems to be blank or unreadable. i cant look at the files with DB editor or with pack manager. i can extract them using pack manager but no matter what i open them with the files are blank. can you post these two files?
