Thread: Creating a new mod-foldered campaign

Default Creating a new mod-foldered campaign

Due to the way RSII works, it is possible to easily create a new campaign without altering the existing files by creating a new modfolder.
Doing this, you can without too much hassle create brand new campaigns with new factions (such as swap-factions, or new ones created by you with new units, ...) by copying the content of an already existing mod-folder, and modifying in it what you want.

Is such sub-mods do appear, I'm able to edit the launcher to make it that your new campaign is choosable there. If the need arise, please contact me.

    Thanks, Paedric.

I'm not familiar with editing the launcher but would really like to have my submod (Respect your units' Equipment and Experience) as a choosable campaign in the launcher.

Do you have a new mod-folder for it, or is it overwriting files?
If it is the latter, I can't make it a new campaign.

Well, for now it's actually the same as one turn campaign with 2 new files, though there will be more changes later on.
If I understood correctly it's just a matter of copying the whole one turn campagin and adding the new files right?

Paedric, why don't you simply create an addon to the installer with 2 new folders like:
    - 1turn submod
    - 0turn submod

Then the modders who want to create a complete submod can just use those entries?

    Just an idea.

People would be able to have only one submod at a time. (or two if it is 1turn and 0turn).

Can we make this work by making 2 copys of an existing mod folder?

Like I make 2 copys of the scythia folder

    I name 1: Scythia Original

and keep the other as it is. and then modify that one.

Hey guys, I got a question about the spartan faction, is there a file I can download to get some additional units with the old fasion Corinthian helmets.
and if not is there a plan to make some units that way?

No to both. Those was not in use during RS 2's time frame and thus wasnt made for RS 2.
Someone with the skills could make those units as a sub mod but it won't be made by the RS 2 developing team.

I would realy love to have some units with the corinthian helmets in the Spartan faction, I know they where discontinued but as i know they where not totaly discontinued some, in fact they where still in use, and I am sure there are alot of people out there that would love to have those in the game.

Its cause the launcher is different...when FGE was released it was the first submod campaign using the launcher...
when CPT released his modfolder he obviously asked Paedric to include his campaing into the launcher but nobody thought about having them both installed and that in that case they obviously needed a launcher featuring both campaigns...
for quick fix iam afraid you have to keep changing the launchers according the campaign you re going to play (copypaste them from the downloaded folders)

    Paedric,

Please create a launcher that includes the following:

    • Play_Rome_Five_Good_Emperors
    • Play_Demise_of_the_Republic
    • Play_Rome_Historically_Enhanced_4TPY

If you can upload a launcher with these additional campaign options the users whom need these optional campaigns in their launcher can put it to use. Also, after you upload it, I will add this launcher to the install files for DOTR and RHE.
