Hello Team Sleep.
Thanks for your comments on our IB2 series of mods.
Please allow me to answer some of your comments regarding art and presentation.
Firstly the art dept consists of 2 modders and as a result we have our work cut out as the art is a massive area to cover. That said we are making good progress and I believe the mods polish (Conquestus) is of a good standard and we are constantly evolving our skill set.
Our next preview will have more graphical flare-look out for it as it is coming soon.
The IB2 art tm are responsible for, Menu, Loads, Strat/Battle cards, portraits and advisors and areas of the ui which is a massive area to cover.
Please see some art below.
Custom Fighters, backdrop and buttons.
Unit Cards battle.
Cards cap in cime cam and created by Char, Cards have a professional look(hopefully).
Unit cards info.
Cards cap in cine cam, for high detail.
Load created with cine cam.
To give you an idea of what goes into 2D art, I will explain how I create a unit card.
Step 1- Capture suitable image in cine camera and then cut out image and size to card. 5-10 mins.
Step 2- Brush up the card in a 2d art package, employ unsharp mask, and other filters. 5 mins.
Step 3- Match card to unit in export unit text file ( so card will show in battle, ect) 5 mins.
Total time 15-20 mins per card.
As you can see this takes a huge amount of time in just one area of 2d art and when multiplied by the volume of cards it is a massive drain on the 2D art team resources.
However the art is evolving and our skillset is improving so we will continue to refine our work.
As you are aware the IB2 team is small in terms of the number of core modders, but this is an advantage in that we are all passionate and committed to late Roman history and to our mods. A lot of mods have died and that is despite a large team. The IB2 team is focused, well led and we have some talented guys beavering away. We always listen and respond to the people who play our mods so please have your say, but I ask you to appreciate that our aim is solid game play, historical accuracy and a fun mod to play.
Aeth, please post some portraits.
