POTW Vote - Images From Other Sources

1. Change rules - the original screenshot must be taken by the competitor, all other entries will be considered invalid. You cannot edit screenshots from other sources and enter them into the POTW.

'Submissions must be taken by yourself in-game. All other entries will not be considered valid submissions'

2. Change rules - the original screenshot may be taken by the competitors themselves or the competitors may use an unedited screenshot from other users on TWC with permission. Official Screenshots from CA or images clearly already edited will not be valid and will be disqualified at the POTW Manager's discretion.

'Submissions must be taken either by yourself or another TWC user in-game. All other entries including usage of official promotional screenshots from CA will be not be considered valid submissions'

3. Keep the current rules, in which you are allowed to use images from other people/websites with credit.

• I'm allowing the first two submissions of POTW 211 in the next poll to compete as it would be unfair for them to redo them at such short notice if the results end up with their submissions being invalid.
  
• If a change in the rules takes place, it will not effect previous wins.
  
• This poll will last 3 days in time for POTW 212 submissions, in which the result of this poll will be enforced in the rules.

I'm thinking we should make a rule that you can only use screenshots for tw games that have only been already released to the public.

Well option 2 covers that (indirectly, but it does). All screenshots from yet unreleased games are official CA images.

Yeah, if 1 or 2 pass, it solves that. I wanted to make a poll on a single rule, if other issues come up, I'll put up a debate if I consider it a big enough problem.

I also intend to put a FAQ thread that will cover many questions on the rules at the end of this poll too. The FAQ would obviously make your point more clear, assuming 1 or 2 pass.

I voted 1, Shot composition should be just as much a part of potw, and I feel people should take their own shots.

I think for nomatter what competition,all original screenshots should be 'shot' by the competitor no matter what !
Tbh,why anyone would want to submit a screen thats not shot by themselfs and gain a possible Win and Glory by it is beyond me!

I think most people who use others' pics because they're better (www.icantusephotoshopsoitakeotherspics.com) are also so despicable that they don't mention the credits at all.

Usually you can tell as they may have just linked it from the website instead of reuploading it to imageshack.

And from past competitions, I think many people have keen eyes here and often spot it.

Anyway, assuming that 1 wins, and they don't take the image themselves but we discover later on during the vote or after the win, I will simply disqualify them for a certain amount of competitions or even remove a win point for example. I'd probably give a warning or two first though, I'm not a complete arse.

I wouldn't mind if Option 2 was chosen but I agree more one with Option 1 - finding a good shot and taking the screen is 90% of the work.

Finding the great shot is 100% of the work. So if someone else takes the shot for you, what's the job that you did to earn a win?

For UESW none for POTW, maybe 30% is you. A great shot makes or breaks a picture. So its not fair to others who take their own shots that maybe aren't that phenominal, to go and use someone elses that could win uesw by itself and edit it. Sure editing is hard but taking your own picture and editing it is a lot harder.
