What is the approximate size of the Ottoman Military?
when the union's inspiration through the worker's blood shall run,
there can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun,
yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
but the union makes us strong.

Sacred Band & Greek forces added.

EDIT: Maps also added. I believe that's it for the OP, from now on please don't post OOC stuff in this thread, as it's supposed to be for battles and (if you feel up to it) pre-battle speeches only.

    Battle off Madeira:
    Date: August 19th, 1798
    Location: Near Madeira, Portugal
    Combatants: USA VS Morocco
Commanders: Admiral Jenkins VS Admiral Abd al-Haq (KIA)
    Strength: 5 Brigantines VS 1 Brigantine + 2 Cutters
Casualties: 1 Brigantine damaged (but still operational) VS all sunk
    Outcome: American victory
Desc.: The 1st US Fleet engaged the Moroccan Fleet near the Portuguese island of Madeira. The much larger and better-armed American fleet won an easy victory, with the Moroccan flagship Imweḥḥden and Admiral Abd al-Haq being the first to go down under heavy fire from the Lexington, Concord and Patriot. The only American casualties were several of the sailors on the Patriot, the only American ship to sustain any real damage during the brief battle.

With the Moroccan Fleet destroyed, American land forces can now land on the Moroccan coast.

Taking advantage of the destruction of the Moroccan Fleet, the Sacred Band of Hellas under John Pappas' command has rushed forward to engage the Moroccans. Receiving word of the annihilation of his fleet and the sighting of American transports by local fishermen loyal to him, Sultan Suleiman has mustered his army and rushed to the mouth of the Oued Sous to confront the Greeks and their American commander.

In a desperate attempt to rally his men, Sultan Suleiman charged forward with his own cavalry, but the lightly armed Moroccan horsemen were no match for the Sacred Band's heavy cavalry and quickly put to flight as well.

    Battle report:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The Greek-American infantry marched forward first, with the cavalry taking a little-known road that snaked through the northern hills and led to the Algerian right flank, but did their best not to engage the Algerian forces; at most, the light infantry of Papadopoulos' company got into a few large firefights, barely worthy of being called 'skirmishes', with the Beni-Mzab tribal militia occupying the eastern hills. The Algerian militia quickly grew excited and charged from their safe positions, down to the valley below, and the light cavalry followed - and were promptly charged by the US cavalry. Their excitement quickly gave way to panic, and they were driven from the field with heavy losses.

    Outcome: Decisive US victory

    Casualties:

    US:
    13 Light Cavalry KIA
    2 Heavy Cavalry KIA
    15 Light Infantry KIA

    Algiers:
    400 Militia KIA
    155 Light Cavalry KIA
    800 Militia captured
    100 Light Cavalry captured

Battle done. The Algerians have called for a ceasefire and sent an envoy of their own to negotiate peace terms.

    Meanwhile...

    Battle off Bizerte:
    Date: December 2nd, 1798
    Location: Off Bizerte, Tunisia
    Combatants: USA VS Tunis
Commanders: Admiral Jenkins VS Admiral Hussein (KIA)
    Strength: 6 Brigantines + 3 Frigates VS 1 Brigantine + 1 Cutter + 4 Galleys
    Casualties: None VS all sunk
    Outcome: American victory
Desc.: The American navy engaged its Tunisian counterpart off the town of Bizerte in early December. The Tunisian galleys and cutter were made quick work of, with only two galleys and the lone cutter getting close enough to actually do anything to the American ships, and the Brigantine was scuttled when it became apparent to the Tunisian commander that the battle was lost - with half of its crew, including the Admiral, still on board.
